Into the wild is easily one of the most moving movies i have ever seen. You have to see this in your lifetime. Its a long movie but the end is so rewarding, and it will make you cry. I know i might be a bit late as this movie is old, but i just wanted to see what facepunch thinks of this movie. "Happiness only real when shared"
Such a great movie. It really makes you think. I thought it was cool that it was based on a true story.
I sometimes wish I could live that way, only not fail at it. The more things I get and the more responsibility I take on, the more trapped and tied down I feel. Like now I'm married, I have a house, a dog, a car, and all the debt that goes with it all.
I would also recommend reading the book, as it includes a lot of background information about Chris that wasn't really explained in the movie.
Great movie. Even though in the end I completely hated the kid.
I loved it, very powerful movie.
Oh, I abhorred that movie. It made me cry as well, but not out of empathy or because it was so great, but because I wanted to punch the guy through the screen. I couldn't connect with his character at any point in the movie. Even if it is based on a true story, it's unrealistic. What kinda kid goes through all of that work to get a wonderful education and then blows it all away? And what he did to the old man, who just wanted to help him... ergh. I was glad his character died after he hurt people like that. :D
Great film, I have to read the book one of these days

Maybe he just wanted the education to better himself and not be ignorant. I worked with a guy who has a university education in history and music and he's working a 9 - 5 labor job, just because he enjoys history and music. Then again, he also plays constant gigs all week during the night as a drummer.
Saw the film with the class a time ago, it was really good.

watched the movie for school, to be honest it annoyed me, i dont care whether it was based on a real story, the main character was portrayed as a bloody saint in harmony with all gods green creatures, suddenly it dissolves any kind of empathy i would have for him.
My favourite movie, watched it so many times.
Look how well that worked out for him.
Well, he made a lot of mistakes, I agree, but I'm just saying that there's not a default path you have to take in life and I admire those who find their own.
I got 5 minutes into the movie and promptly turned it off, realizing how much of a fucking idiot this kid is. He's trying to hunt moose with a .22
I love this movie and the fact that Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder did a lot of the music.
I wanted to cry when the old man asked to adopt him and he said "After I get back from Alaska" and the old man started crying. :'(
