The video is from 2012 but I haven't seen it posted here.
I thought this cop was just amazing.

Open carry is one thing. But doing this to get police attention so you can post it on YouTube is retarded. Causing a scene does nothing but harm gun rights.
"Am I being detained?"
"Yeah"
"Well, I'm, ... uh..."
this guy sounds like such an utter, utter toolbag
kudos to the cop for keeping it cool. i wanted to smack my computer monitor just listening to this dork's voice
"sherch and sheizures'
Really amazed by the police and how he handled it.
Ah, the 'Gotcha!' type of people. I read this on the internet so I know my rights.
The police can get around any law you want to throw at them if they want to, and lawfully, at that. If you want to fight the police and get Gotcha video, do it in the court room after you've been legitimately wronged, and stop wasting everybody's time. Those officers could be 3 miles closer to a boy who's drowned in a pool, or a severe car accident requiring immediate help had you not been an idiot
They just made the police department look sooooo good.
This video was taken where I live. Fucking hell. This is embarrassing because I know people who actually do this.

I'd be proud to have local law enforcement that can handle these situations without ending up on a news headline.
"Am I being detained?"
"Yeah"
"Eh mrmrm...."
Also, why the fuck would anyone want that to be carried on the streets? I'd be fucking terrified if I saw someone walking like that.
I love police who're this nice and professional. We need clones of this guy.

isn't there like some kind of law that could relate to this?
like obviously if someone is standing there with a big scary looking gun the average joe is probably gonna stay well clear and even be pretty scared, especially with the mass shootings and stuff that are increasingly publicized.
i dont care what their rights are, but i would steer clear of someone walking around with an MP5 just to be on the safe side.
if they were standing near a store or something then it could be argued that they are damaging business by scaring people off.
cop handled that toolbag perfectly, I wouldn't manage to keep cool when the guy is reading something off an internet article claiming "THESE TRICKS CAN SAVE YOU FROM BEING ARRESTED FROM SCUMMY POLICE!!" kudos to that cop.
The guy recording went in there hoping for and expecting an argument and got stumped at every turn
Handled brilliantly by the cop

A lot of US states have open carry laws. The only thing that is prohibited in most cases I believe is near a school. If they are doing it obviously to scare off patrons, that could be disturbing the peace or disorderly conduct.
The cop is so great, and its sad that the douchebag carrying is trying so hard to get a rise out of him.
That police said "Come to our academy. We'll show you how to shoot a firearm. We'll actually show you out to do it."
I don't think it's a good idea to say that, well I don't know if it's something they can say it openly(my opinion).

I think the cop knows what he's allowed to say, especially based on how his demeanor was while dealing with this twit.

What he actually said was "You guys need to come to our Citizens' Academy, where we'll actually show you and allow you to shoot fully automatic firearms, actually train you how to do it." I don't see any problem whatsoever.

yeah i know the open carry laws roughly, but it was more the latter part of the fact that in todays climate walking around with a big gun on show could well be classed as disturbing the peace because of how it scares people. not sure if there are laws on also scaring patrons but even just being near or in a store could be construed as that because people wouldn't want to go near them.
I think the video was quite informative and the police officer actually was calm enough and explained a lot more than I think he needed to

I am extremely proud of that since my brother is in law enforcement, but the general population? Jesus Christ.
"Am I being detained?"
"Yeah."
BOOM OUT OF FUCKIN AMMO
The MP5 is portrayed everywhere as a Full Auto (films, TV, games) so without looking at the fire mode selector Joe average wouldn't know any different. Guy was a cunt.
This could be in a cringe compilation I swear.
good thing that guy was carrying his fully automatic submachine gun to protect him from things like cops that might try to take away his fully automatic submachine gun
[editline]9th July 2015[/editline]
also the 2nd cop's face at the situation the whole time lol

"No one will be committing any crimes with you guys walking around." Best cop ever.
