Every spoken word in these kind of promotional videos translates to "we can sell you anything by using buzzwords, give us your money".

And so does ~professional~ footage of designers pointing at screens.
Too bad Juicero wasn't a kickstarter thing
Fuck, forgot to charge my pillow.
Guess I'm pulling an all-nighter.
Is literally every fucking product kickstarter the same holy shit.
Maybe I'm an idiot, but this actually seems okay? Barring the absurd price and some of the weirder features like speakers, it seems pretty ok. It's well-documented that you wake up easier and take less time to become mentally able if it's done over time rather than an alarm screaming in your ear. Also, our circadian rhythm is based on light.
I could see this being a helpful product for people who need to wake up at/before dawn.

I mean, this pillow is $200. For not a lot more you can get actual automated blinds on a timer. Or just grab a few smart lightbulbs for like $40.

Also if you spill something on it you're out $200. The Kickstarter page says the pillowcase is removable and the electronics are waterproof, but the memory foam inside will get ruined. If something soaks in it's a bitch to clean.

People want simple and easy; buying a product purpose built for what you want it to do is typically going to be easier than creating your own solution. Besides, the video is as much making fun of the concept as the price tag.
If around $100 was the MSRP, it would be a much more reasonable price for a product that does seem to have useful functionality.

I have an app on my phone that does exactly this. The volume raises as slow or fast as you want and I have to say it works fine for me. I didn't pay a penny for it.
The average pledged per backer is $137
