Oh that? Yeah that's just the "can't read disc" error screen. Use to come up all the time with a couple of old games I own, nothing really out of the ordinary.
it's just a japanese version of the normal rsod, nothing new.
the screen itself is slightly creepy but otherwise nah
Are you talking about the red screen? because that happened whenever the PS2 couldn't read the disk.

My PS2 had that same exact screen when it couldn't read a disk
Yeah, everyone posting in this thread is a moron for thinking you're just talking about the red fog, but you're also an idiot for not realizing that the video errors are just that; video errors from switching plugins, like you said you were doing. Texture ID's being mismanaged which is probably why you saw a fullscreen quad with a bitmap font sheet on it.
