The longest tennis match in history is going on right now at Wimbledon between John Isner of the USA and Nicols Mahut of France. They’ve been playing for more than 9 hours now, passing all previous records. Currently they are tied 58-58 in the fifth set. And there is about an hour of sunlight left in England. The two players are taking a toilet break right now. Update: The game was suspended at 59-59 after 9 hours and 58 minutes, and will continue tomorrow. Get out the Bengay!
Wow. This is crazy. I watched the last five hours and I'm blown away. The stats are outrageous - Isner has 98 aces and Mahut has 95. Couldn't find an article with the full stats because the match was suspended (for the second time) about five minutes ago.
This will be good to see what ends up happening.
Also, you couldn't capitalize the thread..?
Its called the "shift" button. Utilize it :P
wow you two really have your priorities. This is pretty much the one of the biggest things in tennis since Federer-Nadal last year. seriously this match blew my fucking mind. I feel bad for Isner, he really did not want to continue playing, but you can't exactly throw a history maker like that.
-Snip, Nevermind-
Go Isner!
Have they broken any records yet?

passing all previous records.
Was just watching this on TV, it was like 9 hours and 58 minutes at the pause right?
I think it finally made the 10 hours by the time they suspended the match

Go Isner!
Read the article before you post or just don't come into the news section.
I'm all out of strawberries and the cream has gone off :saddowns:
I'd laugh if their scores got so high they couldn't fit on the HUD/scoreboard

The score board actually stopped working at around 50-50!
Today is just filled with amazing things...
US won their group today, England also made the cut and this.
:iia:
Wow a 10 hour tennis match would be hell.
Can anyone find a video anywhere?

Well isn't that a crappy situation.
This is eXtreme-tennising.
This is eXtreme-tennising.
You mean extreme tennis.
They looked ridiculously tired, yet they played on. Don't know how they did it, it was fun to watch.

Mahut said he couldn't continue the match, as he wasn't seeing anything.
How can you even play for more than 2 hours at this rythm ?
Christ that would be intense.
Watched this yesterday with my mum, those two have some wicked endurance.
Oh wow that's long. It must be hard too.
For the players.
I don't know anything about tennis, so why is it lasting so long?
Because for the deciding set to end, there has to be a 2 point lead.
Yet none of them got further than a 1 point lead before the other one caught up.
Hence; a game of legendary proportions

Such a thinly veiled penis joke.
This match is epic, i tuned in yesterday when it was 36-35 or something.
70-68 :)
It just finished, almost 70 rounds
It's not a boxing match.
It just finished, almost 70 rounds
isner won 70 games to 68 games
that means they played 138 games in the 5th set alone
