http://soundcloud.com/alp1ne/it-is-today A chiptune track that I made. After posting it on various chiptune websites, and getting some good CC, I thought I'd post it here in an aim to get CC from a completely different set of people. Although it could be thought of as a bad idea, and that I should be asking people who specifically listen, and create a genre for advice on how to improve in that genre, I still think it's a good idea to get feedback from someone who may have a different idea on how to do things. Just c+p the description that I gave it on soundcloud;
I like how it sounds, It's not particularly inventive, I'm not particularly musical, any advice/ crit is welcome.
[editline]25th May 2013[/editline] aw shit, that messed up, well, at least it still plays
All you need in your tags is the http://soundcloud.com/alp1ne/it-is-today part. The melody, harmony and bass were good, nice progression. Not too keen on the drums, lacked punch in the snare/hats, the kick was a little weird too. Didn't sound like it fitted the track to me. Those long sustained notes were a bit annoying too, which is a shame cause I really liked the first section. Overall it was alright though, could see it being in a game. What did you use to make it? An emulator, tracker or what?
I agree, the sustained notes kind of drown out all of the other sounds too, drums didn't fit a whole lot. Aside from that, I really liked it! Listened to some of your other stuff, I liked your covers

And I used famitracker.
I agree, the sustained notes kind of drown out all of the other sounds too, drums didn't fit a whole lot. I think it's mixed up with a modern beat with old chip sounds in it. So i don't really have criticism... But yes the sustained notes were a little too much. But overall, Nice job!
Sounds pretty cool to me, as for any critisism I can give, i'd add a shuffle / groove to the melody (the one that starts at the start). Would add more of a vibe, I think. Because everything is so quantized, it sounds a bit stiff to me. Of course, that could be the feel you were going for. Edit: Ha, just listened to Pachelbel's Kanon. What the fuck bro.
