So I'm wondering what anyone's favorite music making program is and why.
Do you mean DAWs? If so, I use FL but it's been pissing me off recently because of how annoying some things are because of the interface. I don't want to go into details.
ableton live master race
FL Studio and Renoise. I also have Logic on my macbook, but I only really ever use it for school/study related stuff.
audacity and windows movie maker
FL10, mainly because it's the one I'm most comfortable with. Nothing against Ableton/Cubase/Logic. I just feel most comfy with FL.
Reason 6 on my pc because its a fairly good all-rounder (good for doing recordings) and didn't cost too much
I'm using FL10, I've tried ableton and such, but for now I like FL the best. Reason sounds pretty intriguing, though
Ableton Live 8. I used to do FL Studio, but I didn't like sampling in it, audio files are easier to handle in Ableton.
FL Studio. Wanting to switch to Cubase, but the fact that you have to pay for the demo makes me kind of reluctant to buy the full thing.
I personally use Logic. I have heard a lot of debates; "Ableton is much better than logic, logic is better than FL" etc etc. I think the most important thing is to use whichever program you feel most comfortable with, and know the best. People give a lot of importance to the technical aspects of DAW's, and although you do need to think about this - it is just a medium and you should pick whatever program makes it easiest for you to turn what is in your head into soundwaves without getting stuck or confused. For me Logic does this nicely
i switch between logic pro and reason 4, but i can't really take logic seriously for building an entire track. i know alot of huge artists use ableton, cubase and logic but i just feel so much happier in reason (even though it gets the most abuse out of all of the daws) (and koan sound uses it)
Ableton Live 8, used to use FL

People hate that daw for just existing.
Have any of you ever tried Ardour? It's pretty cool
Fl studio 10+ Ableton live
Have any of you ever tried Ardour? It's pretty cool
I used it exclusively before I had any money for software. Combined with jACK and its circle of software the possibilities are endless, the whole routing system for jACK is just incredible. I have used cubase mostly in the past few years, but recently I got REAPER. I'm sold on it. Its workflow is pretty similar to Pro tools but without the bullshit.
Nuendo, which is Cubase essentially, but with more gears to post production audio. I also use Pro Tools at school.

I wish I felt that way with Logic but it just feels strange when I use it.
