So, I'm gona be recording my friends beat machine through a DI input in a M-Audio Fast Track. Then, I was gona track some bass separately. I'll hopefully have the parts recorded today if you need an example of the music, but what is the best way to master bass through a DI?
Do I need some sort of bass compressor extension to plug in through? (I think that's how the professionals do it)
I'll be making some old school rap beats, with just some groovy bass and some samples over it.
(If it matters for the kind of music, just tell me and I'll post an un-mastered version tonight)
You don't "master" the bass, you master the finial mix of the entire song..
Do you just mean how do you get it to fit in the mix, or sound good, or something? Get an amp emulator, compress it a little and EQ it so it fits in your mix.
