The RCMP has arrested two people in connection to a bomb plot, sources said. The Mounties arrested one individual in the Toronto area and another one in the Montreal area on Monday. An RCMP official confirmed a report, first carried by Reuters, that the pair allegedly targeted a train between Toronto and New York. An announcement will be made Monday afternoon at a news conference in Toronto.
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/rcmp-arrests-two-people-in-connection-to-bomb-plot/article11465138/ (More to come, I'm just watching the announcement now) At least they caught them. Here's a better article (Because the Globe is shite) with a stream about the announcement. The announcement itself is over, I suppose. Pretty sure this is breaking news. I just got it too

This still doesn't justify Toew's idiotic new anti-terror proposals, he wants to allow for detention without charge and jail time for refusal to testify, among other things, however those are the two worst, and most unconstitutional. Harper needs to can this jackass and appoint a new justice minister.

Our ministers at the moment are all pretty shit.

How aboot that, eh? Sorry.
How aboot that, eh? Sorry.
Wow, how'd you manage to get hold of their suicide notes?
Good job Canada!
"Operation Smooth:" Over a year of investigation, and 3 weeks of delay before criminal arrest. This has been quite the week of news; everyone's on the prowl and police are stepping their game up.
That press conference suffered some pretty horrible Frenglish, and all I got from it was some basics about the suspects, the fact that they knew it was going to happen, and that some of the Al Qaeda cells in Iran were giving directional support, which basically amounts to "You go boy!". All in all I want more information.
Wow I just saw this on CP24...
Whats with all the bombs recently? First Boston, now Toronto?
Wow. Great job from the CSIS, RCMP, and FBI here. It's pretty hard to think what could have happened had they succeeded.
saw this mentioned on fox at the gym. and yes, they were seriously playing this up as the next 9/11.
