• 8001050F Error Cripples Fat PS3s
A wide rash of game-crashing errors is spreading among the PS3-owning community at the moment, most of which can be chalked up to a 8001050F error code. This has led to a variety of unfortunate side-effects for those affected, including corrupted trophy information and an inability to access the PSN. When combined, those two issues prevent players from launching certain games, such as Heavy Rain, without being kicked back to the XMB. We've contacted Sony to find out what's causing the issue, and when we can expect to get back to chasing down the Origami Killer. He might just be able to make a clean getaway while we suffer through this downtime. Update: Sony has acknowledged the issue, and is "looking into it." We've yet to hear an official word on what the problem is, though it seems to be a bit larger than just the PSN. Owners of PS3 Phats are reporting that the date on their console has reverted to 12/31/1999, which is likely the cause of the data-corrupting errors. Some Phat-owners have reported receiving the errors while their console was offline, which is upsetting, to say the least. We'll let you know when we hear official word from Sony.
This happened to me just now. Earlier today I was fine. After a month of work, I was so close to my first platinum trophy (Assassin's Creed 2) that I could almost taste it, but then I had to turn off the PS3 for the Olympic hockey gold match. So fast forward to a few minutes ago. I first notice that that the date is wrong. I log in and the first thing I do is try to fix it. That doesn't work. Then I notice that my PSN log in failed. The internet connection is fine. I chalk it up to an update, so I try to finish up AC2 offline. It says something about being unable to connect to trophy information and boots me out of the game. I Google the error code and find this. So I decide to check my trophy information. The entire Assassin's Creed 2 section is gone. :psyboom: Source It was fixed. Apparently Sony thought 2010 was a leap year, which does not compute.
What's it getting in the way of? PS3 has no games anyway. (User was banned for this post ("Trolling/why reply" - verynicelady))
Or it could be because PSN is down for maintenance. Which it is. I haven't been able to play MW2 online for hours. :saddowns: :siren: BREAKING NEWS: PlayStation Network is down; world ends! :siren:
I too have this problem. Although people on sites like Gamespot/FAQs are freaking out too much. It's not that bad. I am quite pissed though. I just got back from a cross country trip (and with me Tekken 6) So i pop it in and later i freeze and get this crap. I'm still waiting for it to be fixed. It's been like 4 hours now...
And nothing of value was lost. Well, that would be incorrect of how overpriced ps3's are. (User was banned for this post ("Trolling" - verynicelady))
If my old PS3 dies then I will be very annoyed, because the new ones don't have backwards compatability so I wouldn't be able to play MGS :P
If my old PS3 dies then I will be very annoyed, because the new ones don't have backwards compatability so I wouldn't be able to play MGS :P
The backwards compatibility with the PS3 was honestly horrible and it wasn't worth it because you could just buy a used PS2 for that money
hahaha and you guys made fun of the red rings of death. (User was banned for this post ("Trying to start fanboy argument - trolling" - verynicelady))
What's it getting in the way of? PS3 has no games anyway.
PS3 has plenty of great games. But 360 has [sp]no good[/sp] games. (User was banned for this post ("Spoiler abuse" - Jaanus))
Owned. PS3 isn't so perfect now is it? (User was banned for this post ("Trolling" - verynicelady))
8001050F just isn't as catchy as Red Ring.
The only problem I've had so far with mine is the date changing and not being able to connect to PSN. I've been playing GTA4 for the past three hours.
Fuck, I'm scared to turn my PS3 on to check now. Motherfucker, happened to me too. :argh:
Owned. PS3 isn't so perfect now is it?
PS3 never was perfect. Neither was the 360. "Owned?" Seriously? Fanboyism is so stupid.
I had that yesterday. I couldn't log in on LBP, restarted the game and was fine, but could never leave the level and go back to the pod.
At this rate, the PS3 will fall into 5th, and that's if we're counting the edutainment systems.
This is just where PSN is down for maintenance. I don't get why people are saying "OWNED" when PSN is simply offline. It is odd how you can't play games with trophies.
No there not offline for maintenance, Sony has no idea why its happening. My PS3 works fine minus I'm missing Trophy's on fallout 3 but I am playing it.
Yeah, hasn't hit me yet, hopefully it won't.
What's it getting in the way of? PS3 has no games anyway.
No, PS3 had game. To bad they screwed up Heavy Rain with this.
The backwards compatibility with the PS3 was honestly horrible and it wasn't worth it because you could just buy a used PS2 for that money
That isn't the point? I like my backwards compatibility, i get to play old classics and new games and blu ray and music.
And nothing of value was lost. Well, that would be incorrect of how overpriced ps3's are.
dude, a PS3 is like $299 get with the fucking times
What's it getting in the way of? PS3 has no games anyway.
Late
PS3 has plenty of great games. But 360 has [sp]no good[/sp] games.
wrong :/ but nice try trying to defend your shit console. (User was banned for this post ("Trolling" - Jaanus))
WHAT ABOUT THAT FUCKING FIRMWARE UPDATE THAT KILLED MY BLU-RAY, HUH SONY? Fuck.
How can a firmware update kill hardware
Just started my PS3 up, no problem here except I don't own Heavy Rain. Could it be Heavy Rain that's fucking it all up?
