Two /8s allocated to APNIC from IANA Published on: Tuesday, 1 February 2011 Dear Colleagues The information in this announcement is to enable the Internet community to update network configurations, such as routing filters, where required. APNIC received the following IPv4 address blocks from IANA in February 2011 and will be making allocations from these ranges in the near future: 39/8 106/8 Reachability and routability testing of the new prefixes will commence soon. The daily report will be published on the RIPE NCC Routing Information Service. Please be aware, this will be the final allocation made by IANA under the current framework and will trigger the final distribution of five /8 blocks, one to each RIR under the agreed "Global policy for the allocation of the remaining IPv4 address space". After these final allocations, each RIR will continue to make allocations according to their own established policies. APNIC expects normal allocations to continue for a further three to six months. After this time, APNIC will continue to make small allocations from the last /8 block, guided by section 9.10 in "Policies for IPv4 address space management in the Asia Pacific region". This policy ensures that IPv4 address space is available for IPv6 transition. It is expected that these allocations will continue for at least another five years. APNIC reiterates that IPv6 is the only means available for the sustained ongoing growth of the Internet, and urges all Members of the Internet industry to move quickly towards its deployment.
From http://www.apnic.net/publications/news/2011/delegation. The last 5 /8s go to the five regional registries. APNIC's prediction for complete and total exhaustion as above is five years. let's apnic
So does this mean that we're going to start having connection jumps until IPv6 is put forwards? Get your food rations ready. (Or at least until the next five years has passed, eh, enough time)
Not like it's the end of the world just yet. Still got a couple more hours at least
I wonder how much IP Addresses cost per unit.
Its ok guys I can still change my IP. Right? :ohdear:
Hey guys I got about 12 unused IP addresses for sale. 20 dollars a digit they are goin fast!
They still have a plan B if they don't get over to IPv6 in time https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Network_address_translation
I wonder how much IP Addresses cost per unit.
Nothing, iirc you cannot buy or sell IP addresses. You can get blocks from a RIR if you are a company by registering.
Try "ipconfig -release -renew" and see :frogbon:
Or you could change the MAC Address on your router, then proceed by rebooting the router, and then the modem.
I already have a IPv6 so im goood
I know I've been stockpiling images for a reason
Or you could change the MAC Address on your router, then proceed by rebooting the router, and then the modem.
Then you will have no internet. Atleast if your isp checks by mac address.
Meanwhile Virgin Media has no plans whatsoever to migrate to IPv6.
Meanwhile Virgin Media has no plans whatsoever to migrate to IPv6.
Meanwhile virtually no UK ISP has any plans or capability to carry any kind of non-tunneled IPv6. Bravo, UK
Then you will have no internet. Atleast if your isp checks by mac address.
That changes my wan IP.... maybe mine is different, as in they provide cable, internet, phone all by cable.
Try "ipconfig -release -renew" and see :frogbon:
Not even going to answer that...
Meanwhile virtually no UK ISP has any plans or capability to carry any kind of non-tunneled IPv6. Bravo, UK
uk has fucking terrible internet, it's ridiculous
uk has fucking terrible internet, it's ridiculous
Canada's just got worse, though.
They still have a plan B if they don't get over to IPv6 in time https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Network_address_translation
IIRC the further into the network behind a NAT, the more routing is required. This means the distance and hops required increase, meaning more response times and more potential for one hop to fail. Amirite?
Try "ipconfig -release -renew" and see :frogbon:
Naw I do this
Or you could change the MAC Address on your router, then proceed by rebooting the router, and then the modem.
It works 100%
Then you will have no internet.
IIRC the further into the network behind a NAT, the more routing is required. Then you'd have issues with being behind multiple NATs. Wide-scale NAT addressing would be a very temporary fix and shouldn't even be bothered with. ISPs need to transition to IPv6 as soon as they can. This would allow for people who want to to go direct to IPv6 native, and for people who aren't/can't update, to use a 6to4 tunnel.
I just learned from a friend working at my hometown's local cable company is switching to IPv6 as soon as the end of March.
Its ok guys I can still change my IP. Right? :ohdear:
Don't your ISPs have IPs allocated to them? So yes, I think you can. I have no idea how it works, I'm just going off of what I've heard before.
Hng dammit, I need a router that supports IPv6, the product page said this one did, but when I asked manufacturer support they said it didn't... And I've asked the shop if I can refund/change into one that supports IPv6, all they did was nope[dot]gif :|

That being said the existing Utility's quite nice.
oh fuck oh fuck...?

Courier would rape me (to the tune of around $50 for shipping within two weeks based off what Amazon charges for items of the same weight) and international priority would take months.
What?
...in my area. I'm sorry if that was confusing, I'll edit the original post.
