My friend was fooled into captivity by the police and is now being deported from Sweden.

My friend Khaled Maana escaped the war in his home country 6 years ago. In Sweden, together with his mom and sister, he has graduated and built a life and future with us and his family.
He's been applying for asylum since 2006, but has been rejected all times.
Khaled escaped Lebanon to survive.
Today, Khaled was on a "routine questioning" at the police station.
Instead of questioning him at the station, they tricked him in a cage and sent him to a cell in the migration center.
He's now waiting to be deported back to Lebanon. Alone.
This is fucked up guys...
Khaled has been my friend for years and I'm doing everything I can to expose this to everyone.
If alot of people read and sign this, I know the local media will pick it up.
Khaled needs your help guys, please sign this petition.

This is Khaled. A really wise, down to earth guy. Probably like alot of you guys. Except he's a great skater.
Seriously guys, help me do something about this.
I have signed it, best of luck to your friend.
I'm guessing he's not the only one that's facing deportation but I don't see why someone who has shown themselves to be a functioning member of the society they joined should be sent away. I don't know the laws there though, best of luck.
"Yolo Swag, Stockholm"
...?
Also signed. This story is just terrible... I do hope you keep us updated.
Anything for DJ Khaled
jk, best of luck for him, signed
can the police even do that? Isn't it discrimination? You should try contacting some news station or something as well
signed

Also you can probably just go down to your local news station an tell them about this.

but anyways best of luck to your friend
Signed.
This is why big governments are undesirable.
I mean no offense by this, but I feel as though there's something missing.
I'd like to know the other side of the story, usually people aren't deported for shits n' giggles, especially not from Sweden.
I understand he's your friend, but is there any chance there's something not being disclosed?
I mean, everything is very vague
"My friend was fooled into captivity by the police"
"Instead of questioning him at the station, they tricked him in a cage."
And yet you've said nothing about WHY your friend had all this trouble coming to him.
Is he an illegal immigrant? Related to an extremist organization? Is he wanted for serious crimes in his former home country?
Before I sign anything; or anyone for that matter, I would like some more hard details about this situation.

He didn't get his asylum request accepted. So they're deporting him. He's not legally in the country, if he hasn't been granted asylum.
I signed

If Swedish Immigration laws are anything like Canadian immigration laws (which I'm fairly certain they are, but please correct me if I am wrong) then the Police, unfortunately, are not breaking any laws by doing this.
It sounds like Khaled was in the country illegally, but he was attempting to claim a refugee status and it was denied multiple times. Since his refugee status was denied, he is not legally allowed to remain in the country and has to leave. It's likely he was sent several letters regarding the situation and advised to report to Swedish Immigration. Obviously, he failed to do so and they needed to apprehend him in order to deport him.
While I certainly do not agree with the practice (especially when it's someone who's clearly being a benefit to society rather than a drain), it is legally allowed. Again, granted that Swedish Immigration laws are similar to Canadian ones.
I used to work for Canada Border Services so, again, I only know how it works here. I imagine it's very similar in Sweden, but I hope that Khaled is allowed to stay in the country rather than be deported back to Lebanon when he's actually being a benefit to the society and people around him.
I wish the best of luck to you and Khaled.
Signed. I wish I could tell Khaled how badass his hair is.
Signed. Good luck, man.
Sverige är best.
how old is he? cuss if he is under 18 they cant deport him, unless he has family there or there's garantee that hes going to get taken care of by orphanage or such sorry. sorry for bad eng
Can I ask if you and him are living in Helsingborg? I have a friend from there, and most of the sigs are from people there, so..

So multiple votes from your single vanilla IP will be recorded as clones
Signed. I hope the best for him.
They're not exactly wrong to deport him... but it still sucks a lot. Signed.
Signed. Best of luck.
Because online petitions help sooooo much. Just go to your local news, or mayor, or something.

I call bullshit.

What does that even mean, applying for asylum? Does he want to be incarcerated in a mental facility? So confused.

Political asylum my friend.
If a person believes their life is in danger in their own country of origin, they can try for asylum in a neighbouring country and temporarily stay there.
I like his hair in that picture. Reminds me of an eagle or something. He's patriotic then. He has my sign.
Go America.

Just because something is legal, doesn't mean it isn't wrong.
Signed, good luck to you and your friend good sir!
Signed, good luck
I think this shit defies morality issues society has. It's happened in the Netherlands before, it was in the news not long ago. They were just nice citizens, they helped where ever they could, and yet they had to be departed. Glad it didn't happen.
I also signed. This sucks.
