A 23-year-old University of Washington student was arrested after he repeatedly praised the man behind the fatal attacks in Isla Vista, California, last month and promised to outdo him, KIRO-TV reported on Monday. Seattle police said Keshav Mukund Bhide used his YouTube and Google+ accounts to defend Elliot Rodger, who killed six people and wounded 13 others before killing himself on May 23. The suspect allegedly wrote online that Rodger’s “day of retribution” was “perfectly justified.” “I am the next Elliot Rodger and guess what I’ll do the right thing this time,” Bhide allegedly wrote in one post. In another, he said the difference between himself and Rodger would be that he would “make sure I kill only women,” while identifying himself as a Seattle resident attending the university. The student newspaper, The Daily, reported earlier this month that the school chapter of the Delta Gamma sorority contacted police after receiving a call from an unidentified man saying he was “looking for someone to shoot.” Sororities at the university have also reported getting anonymous threats and seeing chalk outlines outside their houses. Police have not determined whether Bhide will be charged in connection with these incidents. He is currently being held in jail on $150,000 and is expected to be charged with cyberstalking and felony harassment later this week.
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/06/16/seattle-man-arrested-after-bragging-online-about-being-the-next-elliot-rodger/ Wtf is with people
but there is no direct evidence towards him committing a crime
Well, glad they caught this one before he did anything.
In other news, media wonders what could have caused this silent compassionate A-student take this kind of thinking into his head
but there is no direct evidence towards him committing a crime
Would you rather risk another mass killing? There's evidence that points to this fellow being unstable enough to go through with it, unless he was just taking the piss, but better safe than sorry with the way things are these days.

That should be painfully obvious.
but there is no direct evidence towards him committing a crime
It's a threat, it's still against the law.

Cellzoned
but there is no direct evidence towards him committing a crime
Uh, he made very clear threats that he was going to kill people. That is a crime in itself.
I get that, but you don't lock people up for something they haven't done. That should be painfully obvious.
He was making threats to go through with it. I believe the term used is preventive custody.
More fuel for feminazis...
Sindri335, is that you?
Sindri335, is that you?
Flagdog is Brazilian, Sindri was Icelandic.
I get that, but you don't lock people up for something they haven't done. That should be painfully obvious.
with the evidence he posted online they were in their right to get a search warrant, then they'll find plans because all these people have plans
Didn't this exact thing happen with Roger himself? Posted creepy shit online and got investigated by the cops, search warrant and all.
I get that, but you don't lock people up for something they haven't done. That should be painfully obvious.
Intent and preparation are criminal for a number of crimes as well. Mass murder is one of them. If they discover that it really was just a joke, he'll be let go. If he was serious, then we're talking about intent. Let alone if he was getting himself stuff to commit the crime with.
Well, glad they caught this one before he did anything.
Yep, this is what happens when the media puts 24/7 focus on the insane murder. Only inspires other ill-minded people.
Why isn't he also being charged with making terroristic threats?
Why isn't he also being charged with making terroristic threats?
I assume because of this:
The student newspaper, The Daily, reported earlier this month that the school chapter of the Delta Gamma sorority contacted police after receiving a call from an unidentified man saying he was “looking for someone to shoot.”

Why isn't he also being charged with making terroristic threats?
They throw those on later in the case before, or after it hits court to maximize time in cell.
I get that, but you don't lock people up for something they haven't done. That should be painfully obvious.
No, you arrest them and then determine whether or not there is a credible threat, because planning and intending to commit a crime is a crime in itself. If there is not a credible threat, then he'll be let go. Being arrested is not an instant condemnation to prison.
