I love both shows. They are awesome on discovery, showing you what to do to survive in the wild. I don't compare both of them, they are very different. Survivorman teaches you to survive with nothing much, while man vs wild teaches you to survive with modern equipment. They are both awesome.
My favorite parts of both shows is when they show you the food they eat.

32 views and no post? :(
Isn't that the same loser who ran that cartoon network show where the kids had to survive in a forest and the show got canceled half of first season?
Man vs wild is stupid over-the-top nonsense that's just done for show. Hell, the guy has a camera crew with him all the time too.
Survivorman is 1000x better.
Bear Grylls is retarded... Atleast Les knows what he is doing and doesn't end up in the hospital after every show he makes...
Survivorman by far, he's more experienced and he's not a retard. Les Stroud is awesome.
Yeah because at least in Survivorman he does something believable. In Man vs. Wild he is jumping and flipping all over the place; something average people would have a hard time doing.
I like both just as much as each other.
I like Survivorman for information and Man vs Wild for entertainment.
Man vs Wild the guy does it for entertainment and to teach you what to do in extreme case scenarios. Like when he was in Siberia and threw himself into a river so that he could show you what to do if it happens. He does this because he has said massive camera crew and helicopter at the ready to help him out.
Les Stroud simply films himself surviving. Yes, it is more bad ass, and the more basic aspects of survival are shown with greater depth, but he doesn't do any of the above crazy shit because it would get him killed.
I watch both, I find them different but complimentary together.
Les Stroud does everything twice. Every time you see him 500ft from the camera, he hikes back, packs it then walks another 500ft.
Les Stroud is sexy :3:
Survivorman brings back memories of reading The Hatchet. Man Vs. Wild is not as much survival for me as it is an exotic Fear Factory.
damn. now i want to watch Survivorman. the Swamp episode was actually really nasty and interesting.

I suppose on this aspect they aren't really comparable. I actually think you're right.
One of them is entertainment while the other is mini-documentary.

But one covers what the other doesn't, so its really not an issue. I definitely have more respect for Les Stroud due to the way he does his show, but its not like Bear Grylls is any less qualified as a survivalist.
Bear Grylls is a fucking fake and a loser. Things survivorman has done on his show has led people to surviving in the wilderness when lost.
Bear Grylls knows a thing or two,but everything else is just a set-up..
i liked him at first, then while learning more about survival,i saw how some of his methods are not so great..
I mean, there is an episode in desert where he chooses to go underwater to another side.
wait a minute, isnt that too dangerous coz he didnt even know how deep/long is that channel
He passes by water in desert, says it isnt clean, yet he drinks water from some animals crap :/
"clever" guy

Thats what he does, though. Undoubtedly he is in the wild and employing survival tactics. But what he does is show you the extremes of it, and, if pushed to such a situation, what you'll have to do.
hey, some of those situations could get you killed..that is my point,it may be extreme but still it is not right at all times
Bear grylls makes me wanna punch him in the nose.
I watched Survivorman from the first episode to the last, and it has to be one of my favorite TV shows of all time. Man vs. Wild is entertaining to watch, but it's definitely not as awesome as Survivorman.
I still don't understand why bear grylls went to Ireland, Ireland is quite small, you're never more than a day's walk from civilisation. If you get stuck in a bog that can be a bit tricky but you should still be able to find a trail out fairly easily.
Survivorman is the real deal, Man vs. Wild just can't compare. I just can't take Man vs. Wild seriously knowing that it's fake.
I saw an episode of Man vs Wild awhile ago. I saw an idiot running down a canyon full of ice, he wasn't able to make it two steps before he'd slip and fall or crash into the sides of the canyon. I was waiting for him to smash his face on a rock and knock himself out.
Man Vs Wild is fake. [Source: Wikipedia] The show has been criticized for fabricating some of the situations in which Grylls finds himself. In 2006 a Born Survivor crew member admitted that some scenes in episodes were misleading, indicating to viewers that Grylls was stranded in the wild alone when he was not. The issue of scenes being manipulated was also raised by Mark Weinert, a U.S. survival consultant. One example he gave was of a raft allegedly being put together by team members before being taken apart so Grylls could be filmed building it. Other scenes that have been criticized include:
* Grylls was shown trying to lasso "wild" mustang in the Sierra Nevada that were in fact tame and had been hired from a trekking station nearby.
* A scene where Grylls was purported to have escaped from an active volcano by leaping across lava, avoiding poisonous sulphur dioxide gas, was actually enhanced with special effects, using hot coal and smoke machines.
* Similarly, another episode gave viewers the impression that Grylls "was a 'real life Robinson Crusoe' stuck on a desert island", while in reality he was on an outlying part of the Hawaiian archipelago and retired to a motel at night.
I like Man V food more then Man V wild.
Survivor man is badass.
survivorman is much more legit because les stroud stopped doing it cause he was afraid one day the show was gonna kill him

les stroud is a real man because he survives. he doesnt just go around eating bugs and jumping off cliffs and giving himself enemas. he builds a shelter, hunts for food, finds water, struggles to make fire, all that stuff that you gotta actually know
