During that time, company officials estimate they’ll produce and ship about 44,000 cases of drinking water. That means well over a million cans of water for disaster victims in New Jersey and New York. “It’s a relatively easy process,” said Plant Operations Manager Scott Vail. “The biggest thing we have to do is shut down and clean, because we don’t want any beer mixed in with the water we’re sending up there to the people.” Vail is from New Jersey and still has family in the disaster area, so the decision to switch over from beer to emergency drinking water hits home. “There’s people up there in need,” said Vail. “We feel for them. I’m actually from New Jersey, so I have a little deeper meaning for me personally, so we understand what those people are going through.” Company officials said the federal government does not pay for the water. They said Anheuser-Busch donates the cans free of charge, something they said the company has done for more than a hundred years. “It makes us feel great,” said employee Sam McElveen of Floyd County. “A lot of people don’t have the opportunity to help, so we look at this actually as an opportunity to help.”
http://www.wsbtv.com/news/news/local/beer-plant-switches-line-make-emergency-water/nSwFz/
why don't beer companies expand into this market, do you want to drink dasani or anheuser busch drinking water?
why don't beer companies expand into this market, do you want to drink dasani or anheuser busch drinking water?
dasani, busch is terrible
It's just bud light with a different label
they should produce emergency beer aswell.
Canned water certainly is a cool idea at least.
It's just bud light with a different label
I found this much funnier than i should have..
I found this much funnier than i should have..
Maybe it's because I'm not a drinker, but I don't get the whole "beer is water" thing. I assume it just because it's not as strong as whiskey or vodka? And if so, who cares, everyone has their own preferences.

Drink something like Colt 45 and it will tickle your taste buds.
Watch these become a collector's item.
I was just about to say that I'd stock up on them if I lived there
because there are actually good people in the business world

Absolutely genius, and i'm sure genuine. Really a win-win-win. Help people out, massive amount of advertising, everyone thinks your an awesome company. Genius.
Watch these become a collector's item.
I'd certainly want one.
why don't beer companies expand into this market, do you want to drink dasani or anheuser busch drinking water?
What about tapwater? Now in times of disaster that may not be the option for many, but if yer tap works just fine, what's the issue?
What about tapwater? Now in times of disaster that may not be the option for many, but if yer tap works just fine, what's the issue?
often enough the water supply will be contaminated after a disaster.
Huh, are things really that bad in New York? Regardless, it's neat that the brewers are working to prepare emergency resources.
What about tapwater? Now in times of disaster that may not be the option for many, but if yer tap works just fine, what's the issue?
Because tap water isn't filtered. It's like drinking out of your garden hose. It isn't going to kill you, but it isn't the best. Also water lines may be broken/frozen.
Watch these become a collector's item.
they're not. they did the same thing after katrina, I have about 30 cans worth still and they're worth next to nothing.
*SIGH* http://www.waterbenefitshealth.com/tap-water-vs-bottled-water.html
This is completely and utterly irrelevant when dealing with clean ups after disasters. People frequently have some noxious chemicals in their tap water after shit like this. Mmmm, transmission fluid. Adds a subtle aftertaste on top of the Diesel fuel.
i'm not talking about DISASTER RELIEF
This is a thread about a disaster. How is anyone to know otherwise?
This is a thread about a disaster. How is anyone to know otherwise?
read the post I quoted and the post IT quoted

Since american beers tend to be incredibly light and insanely sweet.
i'm not talking about DISASTER RELIEF
this is a bit unrelated, but your avatar just tells me that you're one of those gmod serious roleplayers.
Putting it in cans seems like a waste, is there no cheaper alternative like plastic bottles which at least can be refilled?
Putting it in cans seems like a waste, is there no cheaper alternative like plastic bottles which at least can be refilled?
okay this is just nitpicky they have cans, so they're going to use cans
