The document opens by warning that while the American Dream has long been of equal opportunity for everyone, “Today that American Dream is at risk.” It pledges that the GOP will “begin anew, with profound changes in the way government operates; the way it budgets, taxes and regulates.” Both parties routinely approve platforms at their conventions every four years, meant to encapsulate their principles and goals. Much of their details are customarily ignored when it comes to actually governing. Even so, a poll by the nonpartisan Pew Research Center found more people interested in the GOP platform than in the upcoming acceptance speeches by presidential candidate Mitt Romney and his running mate, Paul Ryan. The survey found that 52 percent said they were interested in learning about the Republican platform, compared to 44 percent interested in Romney’s speech and 46 percent interested in Ryan’s. “This ambitious blueprint projects a sea change in the way that government works,” said Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, who led the party’s platform committee. “It offers a solution for workers without jobs, families without savings and neighborhoods without hope.” Democrats lambasted the platform and immediately sought to tie it to Romney, who has differed from some of its details. For instance, he has said he would allow abortions in cases of rape, incest or when the mother’s life is threatened. Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, who is among several Democrats in Tampa trying to get their party’s views heard, called the platform’s stances on abortion and immigration “draconian” and “extreme” and blamed Romney. “What you have seen from him is that he does one thing, he says another,” Villaraigosa said. “He has taken one position after another, time and again you know, and you can’t have it both ways.”
good gays and whores dont desreve no american dream
Remember guys Republicans are just as bad as Democrats.
Yet more proof that the GOP is seeking to turn America into a theocratic dictatorship. Le-sigh.
I'm an American and my dreams aren't at risk.
I'm an American and my dreams aren't at risk.
Dude I don't know about you but when I think about all these gays having gay butt sex, I can't help but cry myself to sleep No really though, I'm tired of all this "gays ruin America" shit. Prove it! Or is this just plain old dogmatism at its finest...?
I thought this was already known to be their platform.
Hahahahaha republicans go fuck yourselves. Seriously, each and every idea of theirs is terrible, if not backwards. I really, really hope Romney doesn't win this election. But people are all like "oh, he's not that bad!", ignoring the fact that, yes, he is that bad.
I thought this was already known to be their platform.
And it's sad, really. Instead of focusing on, well, actual presidential problems, presidential campaigns are now based around whether gays should have rights and whether women should have control over their own body. It's not like there isn't anything else that's important - is there?
what about the dreams of gay americans??
what about the dreams of gay americans??
They don't dream. They aren't even people
what about the dreams of gay americans??
Gay people are anti-American
what about the dreams of gay americans??
Silly Falcon, dreams are for straights!
what about the dreams of gay americans??
clearly they aren't REAL americans. just like rape victims aren't REAL americans.

Though it could be and this article is just nitpicking what it wants to highlight.
what about the dreams of gay americans??
gay people are terrorists obviously
what about the dreams of gay americans??
Gay people are faggots! They are un-AMERICAN! They're communists! They're socialists! They're terrorists! I vote Mitt Romney for an AMERICAN nation under GAWD!
US needs a 3rd party for being more original then the last election. It's like sport. Sunday night Politicians. For each successful personal attack is 1 point. Both teams are 0 - 0.
Isn't the American Dream freedom to-do AND be whoever you are?
You know what scares me even more than this election? The next one. We won't have an established democratic president with minority appeal to re-elect, so what's stopping the GOP from just enacting all of this bullshit in four years?
I'm bisexual and I find gay marriage overrated, if they ban it. I would give a shit
US needs a 3rd party for being more original then the last election. It's like sport. Sunday night Politicians. For each successful personal attack is 1 point. Both teams are 0 - 0.
Too bad voting for a 3rd party is "throwing your vote away"

We'll take a shot for the next 4 years." Besides if they start now, all this bullshit will be refined to its "best" by 2016
Too bad voting for a 3rd party is "throwing your vote away"
Unless enough voters do it at once. BUT the American mentality regarding this subject seems to be "it's somebody else's problem"
Well, obviously I'm not saying they're going to throw this one, but if the democrats don't get another superstar for the next election, and even half the shit spoken gets enacted, this country will be beyond fucked.
I'm bisexual and I find gay marriage overrated, if they ban it. I would give a shit
So just because you find something overrated, no one should be allowed to have it? A+ logic there, boyo.
