Got the Nikon D40 Today... First Pictures

Hey guys,

Got the Nikon D40 today.
I like it :). It is my first DSLR camera and I took some shots on manual for fun. Took like 15 photos out of every picture you see.. These were all taken in the garden.

Take a look at some rules of photography, invest in Photoshop or download GIMP for free, to alter colours, contrast and likewise.

I have photoshop CS4 and I've been using photoshop in general for about 2 years now.
When I took those Pictures I just unboxed the thing.

Pretty decent pictures. But if you browse most of the threads people want photos with quality in them. Now I'm not going to post some of my images but check out Permufeaofuhly ( or whatever it is) and BrianET#42. They take pretty good shots.

Decent pictures. Nothing special really. Just practice alot and you'll get better. Also, the D40 was a good buy.

Yeah, OP these are pretty boring shots. They aren't bad in quality of the image, just the content and composition. The thing is you posted here and say these were just to test out the camera. Well, honestly I don't see why you should have posted then, since these are for your own benefit. What we want to see is interesting photos, cool subjects, etc.

Choose your best photos, instead of just taking a few shots and uploading them, think about composition, the subject, and generally how the picture appeals to the audience. Those are the things we want.

Anyway, good luck with that camera, it is a great investment for the entry level consumer.
