A whale washed ashore on Long Island on Thursday with bite marks "bigger than a Chihuahua," Kim Durham of the Riverhead Foundation told Newsday.
Gothamist reports that the 58-foot fin whale was discovered about 8 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9, near the campgrounds at Smith County Park in Shirley, New York. For reference, that's about 77 miles from New York City.

I wonder what could've bit it, hopefully our resident biologist can help us out on this case.
[sp]I swear to god if this has already been posted[/sp]
Could have been a killer whale. They will attack fin whales.
Durham said that the creature was missing most of its skin and was in an advanced state of decomposition. The bite marks indicated that "large sea animals, possibly a shark, had fed on the carcass post-mortem," Durham added. The fin whale's only natural predator, apart from humans, is the orca whale.
HArvest the corpse. No sense letting all those resources go to waste. It may be considered unethical to hunt them, but if they wash up on the beach dead of natural causes...

What the hell are you gonna do with a dead whale 'in an advanced state of decomposition'???
Probably a shark. Sharks love some dead whale. Doesn't require much energy to eat.
dont be a pussy its called aged meat
Meatwad knows about aged meat.

That doesn't sound very big.
what
What? You don't measure bite marks in Chihuahuas?
I came in here thinking there still were giant pre historic dinosaur sharks in the water. was sorely disappointed...

If there were still dinosaurs the size of fucking cruise liners living in the ocean I would literally never step anywhere near the sea again
How big is 58 feet for a whale? I know it's big but I haven't done any study on sea creatures or the like in years.

Few feet short of average size for a Fin Whale. Blue Whales can near 100 feet.

Average for a baleen whale, about three great white sharks or 60 Chihuahuas.
And here I was thinking this meant the revival of the Megalodon. Oh well. :v:

something like this, but 12 feet long and speaks hungarian.
I'm a licensed internet person who claims to know a lot about biology
clearly this is the work of Cthulhu, but why has he arisen? I do not know, it's probably related to the Malaysian airlines flight that went and disappeared awhile ago. Cthulhu is probably angered that we have allowed reptilians like Obama rule the planet.
If any of you want salvation, I'll be serving up some punch this friday. Don't worry about payment, you won't even be able to pay after taking a drink.
