I want to learn how to speak Czech. Where can I learn how? Do any of you here speak it? Have any of you have it as a 2nd language? how difficult was it to learn?
I'm pretty sure Czech is hard to learn..not sure though
learn german instead
I'm going on a trip to Czech in a few months so I want to learn some to impress the group of czech people I am going with. I tried google but they all seem to be just like google translator indexes of words and stuff.
Learn Japanese....comes with lots of benefits like it looks good on your CV

I'm planning on learning German since being bilingual isn't all that, err, modern If you just want to learn a Slavic language then go for Russian, way easier to get material for that. You could try Rosetta Stone. I've used it for touching up my spanish, as well as learning russian and some arabic. [editline]04:00PM[/editline] Provided that Rosetta Stone even has a Czech language pack, which I'm not sure if it does.

you're going to Czech? wat
This.
you can't learn it amazingly in that time, but they will be impressed that you've at least made an effort. most people make none at all. rosetta stone dont but these people are supposed to be good http://langocity.com/ czech is on there :)

Plus it would be fun for all of us. I always find it heart warming when somebody from a different language tries to speak english to me.
Learn another Slavic language instead, I know people that went there. Some Czechs speak Russian. And Chinese would be a good idea, due to it's current expanding economy and industry.
But I doubt in my lifetime I will need to learn Chinese. Yeah I kind of realized it was going to be hard. But I am up for the challenge. I took 3 years of Spanish with a mentally retarded teacher who didn't know the language herself. I think I can cope alone decently.

If it's a permanent residence (or if you're going to vacation there regularly) then yes, you should learn the language as it's worth it in the long term. If you're staying there for like a week, then it's not worth it
>Going to Czech Republic >Learn Japanese what the fuck is wrong with the logic of some FPers
Learn Japanese....comes with lots of benefits like it looks good on your CV
OP don't do this ever.
I would never learn any asian language. First of all I am doing this to impress my many czech friends that I will be living near for the rest of my life hopefully. (they are girls too) Second. I don't find Asian girls that attractive compared to Eastern European girls. Yes I am going to Czech with them for a few weeks. Then coming back to England. But its kinda a fun thing to do with your friends, learn their language. They love it when I try and attempt to say 'Ahoj' which is hello since I get a kick out of saying 'ahoy'

Yeah I have. I have been watching some youtube videos over and over which just help you memorize the phrases. I think eventually I will get one of them to tutor me. But I want it to be a surprise for the week we all go on the trip. I start speaking czech... even if I horribly disgrace their language in the process.
China will become the most important economy, not culture. Take a look at Japan, for example. They grew a lot in the past 65 years, faster than any other country has ever done (even more after having their 2 most important cities destroyed), but their culture hasn't been introduced in the ocident to the point of being so important that you need to learn Japanese. China will be like this, you won't need to learn their language.
learn german instead
This. One of the easiest language, but that doesn't mean its easy.
Learn German or Russian. Edit: But don't grow a toothbrush moustache or rape women with your 30 centimetre long cock.
This. One of the easiest language, but that doesn't mean its easy.
Do people not realize that I am trying to learn a language for a cause? I don't think they read the OP. They just read the title... uugh
Learn Russian or German instead. German will be easier than Russian, but Russian is just so damn pretty. :swoon: But, if you really wanna learn Czech, just derp around Google. Typing in "Czech grammar lessons" will probably bring you to what you want. EDIT: try this http://www.locallingo.com/
Do people not realize that I am trying to learn a language for a cause? I don't think they read the OP. They just read the title... uugh
Czech isn't the only language in that region you know, a lot of them probably speak German.
German is the master language, learn it...
Czech isn't the only language in that region you know, a lot of them probably speak German.
but the other part of my reason for learning Czech is that my friends are Czech and know how to speak Czech. not Russian, German... Japanese... ffs.
Hey OP, you could learn German! Hope I helped!
