Russian radar detected two ballistic "objects" that were fired towards the eastern Mediterranean from the central part of the sea on Tuesday, state-run news agency RIA quoted the Defense Ministry as saying.

Weird.

North Korea intervenes in Syria!
Testing, testing 1 2 3
Sounds like a radar malfunction to me
Or maybe some crazy 21st century equipment that's deployed from a sub via a missile :tinfoil:

SLBMs have existed since the 60's.
I'm not actually being serious about the equipment thing
I wouldn't think they would launch an SLBM like that unless they wanted to risk starting the war early
Maybe amateur rockets

I heard it was an 'Anchor target missile in conjunction with the US' on TV.
Anyway, on a more serious note, if someone were to actually launch cruise or ballistic missiles at Syria, you'd hear of the impact, not the suspected launch. By the time the launch had been performed, detected, confirmed, reported, written and published, something on the ground in Syria would already have been hit.
A fisherman released 99 red balloons.
Sorry for Yahoo "news" but apparently it was a joint US-Israel test

FYI, this is an anchor missile (attached to an F-15)-

Running a test on Israel's anti-missile defenses during this time is kind of a crystal-clear message to Syria and Iran.
I wonder how big this thing is going to get, honestly. I'm usually pretty good at predicting how these things play out but this time I've got no clue.

Meh, it might be a side effect but it's definitely not the main goal.
They didn't just randomly fire a missile out into the ocean, this was a tester for their missile defense radars. These tests are planned quite some time in advance, and cancelling one would cost money and fuck with the schedule.
I remember many centuries ago, when I got banned for "meme shit" when I would say "weather balloon" or "swamp gas."
Guess times're just a changing.

I miss these times
I doubt we would use something as big and destructive as a ballistic missile in our opening salvo. at least we wouldn't use something big enough to be seen by Russia in Russia....

Oh, and I just talked to a friend in the IAF- Apparently, they run these tests almost every single week.
Looks like the Russians are just trying to pull sensationalist bullshit.
