Morality is stupid - General

It has caused war, it has ended war, it has killed and saved millions of lives. Before I go any further we should all know what morality is: Morality - [muh-[b]ral[/b]-i-tee] 1. conformity to the rules of right conduct; moral or virtuous conduct. 2. moral quality or character. 3. virtue in sexual matters; chastity. 4. a doctrine or system of morals. 5. moral instruction; a moral lesson, precept, discourse, or utterance. [url]http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/morality[/url] Put simply, morality is a supposed code that we must follow in order to live a good life. Morals have been taught in religious books("Give honor to marriage, and remain faithful to one another in marriage. God will surely judge people who are immoral and those who commit adultery." Hebrews 13:4 | "It is better for any of you to carry a load of firewood on his own back than begging from someone else." -Riyadh-Us-Saleheen, Chapter 59, hadith 540), it is taught by politicians("The only assurance of our national safety is to lay our foundation in morality and religion." Abraham Lincoln), it is taught by The Media, our parents, our teachers, and everyone else. Society as a whole [b]will not[/b] function without a moral code according to many people. However, I put forth the notion that there is no morality, there never was and never will. Sure, morality is a great idea and all, but it has never worked and often causes wars and genocide when morals clash against each other(let's see, the Spanish Inquisition is a big one, in fact most of the inquisitions during the dark ages were when someone's morals and beliefs didn't fall in line with what the powerful -in this case the Catholic Church- saw fit). The "colored" people were a people of [i]very low moral[/i] back in the days of segregation and slavery, the heathen protestants had very low morals, the vile savage Injuns had no morals. [b]It has been an excuse to hunt down and destroy anyone who isn't like you, it has been a tool to manipulate us into killing and enslaving masses of people.[/b] How bad were these immoral people? Sure, the Native Americans were often very savage, when Europeans came a lot of tribes had their whole culture rooted in war, but didn't the Europeans as well? Didn't the Spanish who came to Mexico have a very bloody history of fighting with the Moors and Berbers in the Iberian Peninsula? Didn't the British fight a series of extremely bloody wars with the French(100 years war)? Didn't the Dutch have a series of wars to ensure it's independence from the German States and Spain? The Natives weren't any more brutal or bloodthirsty than Europeans, they just didn't have the sophisticated technology or the "divine right" given to them from god to kill and rape. That's why I only present one universal moral, otherwise do whatever the fuck you want, smoke pot, fuck your car, snort koolaid. The one thing that is important no matter what is: [b]Respect another person's right to do what they want[/b]. Don't harm another person, don't take their money, don't harass them for their beliefs even if they spit in the face of your own personal beliefs. Someday I hope to live in a world where instead of fighting over petty shit, like what god you believe in, or what you put into your body, people can simply begin to respect each other for being different. People can finally be free to do what they want without persecution. How groups of peoples and governments have pushed their idea of right and wrong on everyone else and threatened with incarceration and sometimes death people who don't conform. Seems like your [i]moral[/i] says you shouldn't interupt with other ideas, or [i]morals[/i], although theirs might cause a war, or justify something that you might find horrible. So let people be stupid, and they might change their ways in time.

OK so everyone has different takes on morality and sometimes we kill eachother because of those differences. Can't argue there. But the whole 'Do whatever the fuck you want' thing is the worst idea EVER.

Most of the time 'Morality' is actually a cover. The government will eventually force their own morality down people's throats so they can invade a country for resources.

Sometimes husbands kill their wives because they're tired of nagging. Sometimes people hire hitmen to kill other people. Sometimes gang wars will come up and people will kill eachother for their possessions Sometimes robbers or muggers will kill their victims There are LOADS of reasons one would kill that don't involve morality.
