Had an amazing day at the EBGames Expo yesterday and here's my little story and massive thanks to Sony and EBGames for hosting the event! (For the purpose of the story I will let you know I am in a wheelchair)
We were going around the Expo as you do, looking at all the different booths and games when we ended up at the Sony Australia section. Itching to test out the new next gen consoles we went inside and a worker there asked if we needed any help with anything, I answered "Yes, I'd like to know where to go to test the PlayStation 4" the worker replied "Oh there's an issue with that but please wait, I will get someone to explain to you and I think you'll be very pleased with our solution".
Wondering what was going on we waited, and after a few minutes along came a Representative of Sony Australia and explained "First of all, I'd like to say that Sony deeply apologises as we have made a massive oversight in regards to supporting our disabled player base and we have placed all the PlayStation 4's upstairs and with no way to get you up there. Again we are extremely sorry, it really should never have happened but because it is totally our fault and we always support our disabled player base, we would like to offer something in return along with our sincerest apology. Please could you leave you name and contact details with us and we will give you a PlayStation 4 on release day." I was shocked and said "The whole console, on release day and for free??!?!". He said "Yes, absolutely, it's the least we can do for what we have done here."
So for myself, and my 3 friends also in wheelchairs. We all are getting free PlayStation 4's!!
The XBox area had the exact same setup and all we were told is "Sorry, it's upstairs, you can't try it" and were sent off. Typical!
Thank you so much Sony! You are so amazing! And thank you EBGames for a great expo
Good guy Sony, once again.
I wish I was disabled.
I'm just glad to see there's still good in people.

It's always heart warming.
Well, to be fair, I doubt many people in wheel chairs would be using Kinect much anyway. Good move by Sony.

This sounds kind of odd. Especially the way it's worded. Kinda sounds like those fake sympathetic viral Facebook stories but that's my opinion.

It really kinda does. I was expecting "FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: Sony Makes Disabled Fan's Day! You have to see this!!"
I dont believe for a second anybody would refer to them as Sony Australia unless they were an employee...
well that tears it
guess the ps4 is for me me
I don't buy it. Sony has pulled "viral" shit like this before. Something is fishy. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know, just the wording doesn't seem like a normal Facebook post. I also don't want to be the guy calling out a guy in a wheelchair.

I don't think if it's real they are really losing much money. It was only three guys, why would they lie? This is pretty fucking nice
Yeah, I don't know. If it is real, good on them.
I'm sure a guy who got a free ps4 and was turned down by Microsoft would word it in such a way to make them look bad. Although we won't really know for sure.

looks like the publicity stunt worked
[editline]7th October 2013[/editline]
i'm just kidding by the way this was a very nice gesture
Wow, that was pretty cool for Sony.
Jesus sony, stop giving me reasons to get the PS4.
I'm running out of paper here.

wow i too was shocked when they announced that they would be getting a whole console, a playstation 4, DEVELOPED BY SONY, on release day and for free, and i exclaimed "a whole console, on release day and for free?!?!?!!"?!?!"
I'm not very sure about this story being legit, with this being the suspicious quote:

I was at the Expo on Saturday, and that wasn't the case for me. They actually did have xbox ones downstairs; the games they had there was forza, minecraft, a fighting game, world of tanks, and a kinect sports game. The only things that were upstairs that I know of was Titanfall and Ryse: Son of Rome, both of which were also downstairs in the ultimate gamer pass room.
I'm pretty sure the xbox guys would make an exception for this guy's sake to play one of those two games.
Also, there were PS4s downstairs in the sony booth too.
I know you don't really doubt the actually real disabled guy, but heck - someone's got to do it.
I'm not sure if microsoft understands the importance in good press before a console launches and how that correlates to overall sales.
I agree it sounds rather odd, but I suppose he didn't exactly remember the wording since nobody records conversations they have with others aside from journalists (and the NSA I guess) so he wrote down the gist of it for the sake of the story. I think everybody who quotes others tends to exaggerate what the other person said to make their point more clear.
Really cool of Sony to do this, if it is true.
10 seconds later;
"Dude, let me borrow your wheelchair."

Well its not like it's expected of them to give disabled people free stuff, it was just an act of kindness on the Sony reps part
