Anyone else see the whole Halo CE theme? the UI is identical
You know what comes to mind when I think of Metroid?
4-player co-op shooter.
This game looks so fucking casual and slow.
cant they just make a real metroid game
cant they just make a real metroid game
It is a real Metroid game, it even has Metroid in the title.
Nobody is going to buy this turd and Nintendo will be like "oh I guess nobody likes metroid anymore :("
people will still buy it, its Nintendo
that along with it being a well known title

Just like chibi robo. Rest in piece.

I'm pretty sure they know exactly why people hate this- it's been downvoted and shat on for months. It's not gonna sell because it's a spinoff of a game that only does well in a niche western market, and they'll start working on a new one after for sure to appease fans for the NX.
God this game had one of the most embarrassing appearances in a direct ever. The director came on and, I wish I was kidding, basically went "G..Guys we listened to you, it's a real mainline Metroid title I swear"
I'll be honest, the game looks OK, but it's 100% NOT a metroid game - by any standard.
It's definitely the first tactical co-op-y thing I've seen on the 3DS. If they had given it it's own IP, i'm sure it would not be getting half the hate it's currently getting.
it does make you a bit concerned when the producer has to provide back-up and reasoning for their development goals & aesthetic; almost as if it's a "no no see you're wrong you may not like it but it was an intelligent thought through decision honestly!"
I don't see the problem. It's a game in the Metroid universe only you're not Samus, of course the gameplay will not be the same.
I can't wait to play it because I'm interested in the story. It's about time we got some fleshed out lore on the GF and the universe as a whole.
I really find it dumb there's a huge hate boner only because it has metroid in the name
Did people cry about you playing as yoshi in super mario world 2?
I wish we had more games like Metroid Prime. We've got a fair few good games similar to Super Metroid (gotta love that Axiom Verge), but I've yet to see a game that does what Prime did.
And I've STILL got to get off my arse and see if I can find a place that can fix up my copy of Metroid Prime Trilogy. I've still yet to play the damn thing 'cause the disc doesn't work.
Did people cry about you playing as yoshi in super mario world 2?
To be honest, no one really refers it to it's SMW2 name, and just call it Yoshi's Island. Also, at this point, it's accepted that Mario Franchise is not oriented around Mario, but Metroid has not made that leap, yet - and with the current reception, looks like it won't be happening.

It was only called SMW2 when it got localized AFAIK.

Super Mario World 2 still played like an old Mario platformer game though. So there wasn't quite the same reason for people to be mad at it.
They've taken a game about exploring an alien planet, sometimes more than one, by yourself while exploring and collecting powerups, and turned it into your run of the mill co op fps shooter, for no real reason at all.
The jump to first person worked so well in the Metroid Prime trilogy because it was still a game about exploration and discovery, which is what Metroid is known for. Now it's mission based, class based, co op shooty action. They could've called the game anything else and no one would have been like "this looks like it should be a Metroid game."

In addition to what others have said, I feel franchise drought is a big part of it for some people.
It's been about six years since there's last been a Metroid game (Other M), and in a lot of the series fans' eyes, nine years since there's been a decent Metroid game (Metroid Prime 3). Had Federation Force came out around the time of another mainline Metroid game or been announced alongside one (be it a 2D sidescroller or console FPS) I don't think it would have got nearly as much flak.
Like I understand hating a game because it's different but don't judge a book by its cover
Give it a try, watch videos of it, etc. Don't let the name give you an aneurysm only because it's a name.

some would even say the last good metroid game was zero mission
edit: nvm, I thought zero mission came out after prime 2

corruption is fantastic what are you talking about
not seeing how this reminds you of halo ce
i'd love another game like metroid prime hunters
not seeing how this reminds you of halo ce
probably seeing some similarities from something but im not sure what, seemed like halo ce
I would be completely hype for this(I always liked the Federation) if it didn't have that artstyle.
Why would you take away the cool armor designs of the Federation for this weird chibi artstyle? The designs were what made them cool and what made me want to play a game as them as a kid.
I also won't deny they chose a horrible time(when there hasn't been a Metroid game since Other M) to release a spinoff.
I'm still gonna try it out though.
The gameplay looks fun, and I like the artstyle. But like others have said, it literally has nothing to do with Metroid Prime and the theme seems to directly counter the name.
This is as much a Metroid game as 10 Cloverfield Lane is a Cloverfield movie.
It's very different from halo CE.
It is a real Metroid game, it even has Metroid in the title.
Well atleast we finally get a fucking first-person shooter for 3ds. Finally
