President Vladimir Putin felt insulted by allegations of Russian interference in the US election, Donald Trump has said after meeting him briefly at an Asia-Pacific summit in Vietnam.
"You can only ask so many times... he said he absolutely did not meddle in our election," the US president said.
Mr Putin later dismissed the allegations as "political infighting".
The US intelligence community has already concluded that Russia tried to sway the poll in favour of Mr Trump.
Man, Trump really does function on the level of a toddler.
Imagine if Obama met a foreign leader who's openly hostile to the west, who's banned US media from covering him, who has fucking sanctions placed on his country the US and her allies and went on to not only defend him, but take his word over his own country's agencies.

"I know he didn't meddle in our elections, I got rid of the invoices for the bribes he gave me"
Trump deserves nothing short of life in prison for his historic betrayal of our country and our people.
Always two there are. A master and an apprentice.
Putin and Trump. Both enemies of the US.
Putin: Trump did not bring up election meddling

So.... which is it Trump? Are you defending Putin without any reason?

How much do you want to bet that Trump did bring it up, and Putin finds it convenient to say that Trump didn't.
If Trump were to call Putin out and say "Now wait a diddly-damned minute, we did talk about it!" that would make things seem awful fishy for Don.

Holy shit if Trump actually lied about bringing it up that would be hilariously sad and amazing at the same time.
Well guys, from the donkey's mouth, Putin absolutely positively said he didn't do it.
So when's the indictment?
Considering that we've already got Manafort, Gates, and Papadopoulis, with Clovis, Flynn, Flynn Junior, Page, Sessions, Kushner, and Trump Jr likely upcoming, based on recent revelations? With nearly every major pillar of the Steele dossier having been proven true, and nothing discredited? It's only a matter of time, really. First, Trump will get impeached. Then, he will be indicted. He is a traitor. Anybody who is still shutting their eyes to what's happening here is simply in a state of denial.
You really think someone would do that? Just go on the world stage and tell lies?

We can only hope the indictments and impeachements go beyond just Orange In Chief. Let's be honest, the first man in the line of succession worthy of the office is Mad Dog Mattis, everyone ahead of him is complicit in the whole thing if not outright part of the collusion.

We need to clean out the executive and the administration of our state-level functions from all the corruption and apathy Trump has installed, yes, but the bigger prize is the harder-won one.
By which I mean the GOP and RNC. If Mueller manages to throw a wrench into those works in this period of time wherein their donators are already calling in and swearing to back their opponents, any opponents, if they don't get this tax-cut-for-the-rich passed - requiring them to do so at any cost and immediately - then the GOP/RNC may detonate and we may see the Little Death of Republicans.
That would be a tremendous victory for America. The former ideals of the Republican party can be debated and reasoned with and may even have a good point here and there; the current party needs to be struck down with thunderous force as it no longer even pretends to serve the country it previously pretended to. Such brazen corruption and malfeasance should not be rewarded. And, before I seem 'left wing' or whatever - that goes for the DNC as well. Our two-system party needs some serious cleaning done and, if even possible, new rules and laws promptly established to prevent 'the rot' from setting back in.
Imagine if Big Dumb America permabanned the me and next 6 posters through editing their posts and making another mod ban them, using his position of power to his own advantage, and then garry asked him if he did it directly and was like "Its ok he said he didn't do it", while garry actively tries to shut down a mods investigation of it
I hadn't read what Trump actually said in full until just now, fuck me read what the President of the United States said
While describing his relationship with Putin and the ongoing investigations into 2016 meddling, Trump seemed to indicate to reporters aboard Air Force One on Saturday that he trusts Putin's denials more than the comments of former intelligence officials, like former high-ranking intelligence officials James Comey, John Brennan and James Clapper.
"I mean, give me a break, they are political hacks," Trump said. "So you look at it, I mean, you have Brennan, you have Clapper and you have Comey. Comey is proven now to be a liar and he is proven now to be a leaker. So you look at that and you have President Putin very strongly, vehemently says he had nothing to do with them."
Trump told reporters as he flew from Da Nang to Hanoi in Vietnam that he's done confronting Putin over the issue and took him at his word that Russia did not seek to interfere in the election.
"He said he didn't meddle. He said he didn't meddle. I asked him again. You can only ask so many times," Trump said.
Trump spoke to Putin three times on the sidelines of summit here, where the Russia meddling issue arose.
"Every time he sees me, he says, 'I didn't do that,'" Trump said. "And I believe, I really believe, that when he tells me that, he means it."
"I think he is very insulted by it," Trump added.
Also in that source link, CIA Director Mike Pompeo, who was nominated by Trump and long seen as one of his stooges, has come out and said he stands by the intelligence community's assessment. Trump nominated a fake news-believing Democrat spy!

I don't understand how Trump can continually, in the same breaths, say that someone is lying by leaking.
Man, Trump really does function on the level of a toddler.
"Look, I asked him, like, eleventy times and he says he didn't do it!"
So, person suspected of collusion says that the person he is suspected of colluding with said that there was no collusion?
And that second person independently says the conversation never took place?
Fucking what?

Because the leaks hurt him and Donnie The Golden Son can do no wrong so it must be fake news. Admitting that the leaks have even the slightest bit of credibility validates exactly what he wants everyone, Mueller most especially, to stay the fuck away from and just shut up and let him dismantle the United States and hand it to his chosen oligarchs-to-be. Like the Kochs.
It's pretty fucking great that even Pompeo, who was seen as his little rat watching over the CIA, is supporting the IC's side of the story. Trump's bleeding support in his own cabinet.
The 25th Amendment might have Section 4 exercised before all this is over.

So, wait, does this mean his previous claims that Hillary/Democrats were colluding with Russia are now a good thing?
Trump took an extra hit of something before going on twitter tonight. Christ.

It's treason, and iirc treason in the US is punishable by death.

Actually, it's death or minimum five years in prison and fined minimum $10,000 and permanently barred from holding any public office.
Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.

Life imprisonment is the only justifiable outcome if execution does not occur, in my opinion.
Sedition I think is probably the closest thing to treason we could go for here. Which, admittedly, would be pretty damn ironic if he gets charged with it, given what it was originally constructed to do.
