Pope Francis has sharply criticised the Vatican bureaucracy in a pre-Christmas address to cardinals, complaining of "spiritual Alzheimer's" and "the terrorism of gossip".
He said the Curia - the administrative pinnacle of the Roman Catholic Church - was suffering from 15 "ailments", which he wanted cured in the New Year.
Pope Francis - the first Latin American pontiff - also criticised "those who look obsessively at their own image".
He has demanded reform of the Curia.
There was silence at the end of the Pope's speech.
Francis has the balls the size of a New York Liberty Statue sometimes.
When there's a silence at the end of a speech, you know you got the message across.
i hope he never dies, francis is the man

I'd say something like 'shots fired' but this is more like an artillery bombardment.

Wake me when that happens then. So far all I've heard is rhetoric.

Some people are feeling rather сварливый today.
"Everyone but me is either a dumbass or an asshole."
"Everyone but me is either a dumbass or an asshole."
But it is true in this case. Pope Francis is much more down-to-earth and closer to the people than most of the Church's top brass.
I might be way too pessimistic but there are always been legends about the vatican killing and such. I wouldn't be surprised if he appeared one day dead.

There's a keyword there.
Literally holier than thou.
“I once read that priests are like aeroplanes: they only make the news when they crash, but there are many that fly. Many criticise them and few pray for them. It is a very nice phrase, but also very true, as it expresses the importance and the delicacy of our priestly service, and how much harm just one priest who falls may cause to the whole body of the Church.”
Well doing something like this back in the earlier half of the last millenium would end up with you mysteriously dying
