Middle school student creates joke "hit list" of other kids, school rightly decides boy is not a thr

with all the stories about how quick schools are to ban shit because a kid made a gun with pizza i am compelled to share this with you because i heard about it on the news and figured it might be nice to hear about a polar opposite
A sixth-grade boy at a Shrewsbury middle school created what he titled an "assassination list" with the names of eight other students, and another untitled list of five students. In an email to parents, Principal Jane O. Lizotte called the list a "poor choice," but said it did not represent a real safety threat.
Shrewsbury police investigated the list and said they didn't believe there was a credible safety threat. Principal Jane Lizotte sent an email to all the school's parents after the district was contacted by a reporter.
"I felt that it was important to communicate directly with you, our parent community, so that you receive the information directly from me rather than being unnecessarily alarmed by a media report," Lizotte wrote. "I am confident that our school remains a very safe place, and we will continue to take any potentially problematic situations brought to our attention seriously and to respond using our best professional judgment."
Good on them.
But what if he had a death note? :v:
On a more serious note, I'm glad they didn't go overboard in this case.
"While this situation turned out to be nothing more than an immature action by a sixth-grader,
We shouldn't expect schools to be prepared for stuff like this.
They should've executed him in the courtyard, who knows. He might've been a terrorist!
I actually got suspended for a week due to 'terroristic threats'.
Then the cops told me I was lucky this wasn't right after 9/11. I was so pissed because I had explicitly said I wasn't crazy and pointing out what someone who was crazy would do.
Mind you, they called me crazy for reading ahead in an assigned reading book. So I was about ready to actually at least slap them in the face with that book.

Spoilers are a serious issue.

Blind him, castrate him and have the whole class beat him up.
I did the same thing when in Elementary school to blow off some steam. Though I threw it away like after ten minutes, and then someone dug it out of the trash for some reason in my class. Didn't get in trouble for it.

I remember there was a kid in our school with a hit list of about 80 people. I was number four on that list

I started around number 20 and being killed by a hit and run but managed to work my way up to number 2 and getting some rad Rasputin shit. Proof that hard work pays off.

Weird, my teachers were always anal with that, too. I wonder what the deal is. You would think a student who actually took an interest enough to read through the text books on their own would be a good thing
In English class in middle schoolwe had to write our own stories and read them aloud to the class
Like the angsty spazz I was back then I wrote about how I hated the school and wanted to burn it down and the worst I got was the teacher telling me to cool my jets
am I the only one that actually mapped out the most efficient way to destroy the school using the map from the back of my student planner and load estimates for cinderblock and steel construction buildings? I mean a fire coupled with 2 ieds would decimate the schools population
I mean mainly I planned this out when they decided to have an hour long fire drill in January...in the snow...and the cold.....I was cold
Principal Jane O. Lizotte called the list a "poor choice,"...
Poor choice of kids to assassinate, Jane should have recommend some worthy targets - I heard the dinner lady is a bitch

Teachers are just lazy and want to throw work at you(that they never grade) instead of teaching you.

My algebra teacher got pissed at my group that I had to do a group-assignment with because we finished everything like 10 minutes in advance.
She proceeded to reply that "overachievers get punished."
[sp]THEN, I questioned her logic and she sent me outside. I mean, come on.[/sp]
[sp]Her voice and personality were annoying too[/sp]

Nah, I just draw cool gun designs in the back of my Geometry notebook.
This happened at my highschool years back, but it turned out he had an illegally purchased shotgun, a bunch of knives and swords and shit so it was treated as a tangible threat
[editline]18th January 2014[/editline]
But I find that this would be highly unlikely for a 6th grader
They should've executed him in the courtyard, who knows. He might've been a terrorist!
Let's make some concoction of drugs instead and see what it does to him.

Good on them.
It is good that they decided to investigate to make sure that the boy was not meaning to really kill people, good on the school to make sure that they were using common sense and good precautionary measures with out going over board.

It's one of the biggest reasons why I was transferred to as smaller private school for kids with minor learning disabilities.
Finally some smart responses to jocularity.

That's only the teachers who have tenor(Which is stupid to be honest).
The teacher who was heading our reading class was actually a guy who just started so he was super interested. Our textbook was old enough that it ended around the time that the Berlin wall was still up so I made a joke about that and he was the only one to get it. Liked the guy, he probably reported me because he had to but that doesn't explain the fact that the student who felt 'threatened' said I was going to do all that to her.

thats fucked up
I wish my middle school was like this.
Instead, Ms. MacFarlane saw me drawing a picture of a black cartoon bomb and thought that I was joking about 9/11. So I sat in study hall for the rest of the day.
