Hey i'm going to be playing a mini gig at a local venue "Plugged" and I really do not know how to perform and act on stage, any tips are appreciated.
Our band's genre is Indie.
Here's our set-list:
1) Biffy Clyro - Bubbles
2) Rolling Stones - Jumping Jack Flash
3) Green Day - Basket Case ( I didn't want to do this one but oh well )
4) Nirvana - In Bloom
Just imagine you're Bono and you'll do just fine.
Here's a tip.
Don't be a bitch like:

A band has too many people for everyone to be 100% in agreement on everything. Just play it for your bandmates and know that they play some for you. Everyone in a band hates it when just one person whines or refuses to play a song.
Also pretend you're Bono. Also get high beforehand. Also jam the fuck out.
Tip 1: Don't play any of those songs :v:
I kid
Appreciate the audience, they're paying for your cut
Actually your role in the band would help
Thanks for the tips, i'll try my best!
If you play wrong or do anything wrong, don't stop playing... obviously. Just keep going. If you're an experienced musician you should know this.
Make sure you look into it, makes a big impact if you look like you'd rather be somewhere else
Smile at the audience and make them feel welcome I guess, nobody likes a miserable looking band.
Indie isn't a genre you silly old goose you. :colbert:
Indie isn't a genre you idiot. :colbert:
No need to call him an idiot because that is just a common misconception :colbert:

I used to think indie was a genre until a few months recently because everyone kept saying "I listen to Indie music" when I asked them what they liked.

Fixed it. happy now?
Indie usualy means indie rock... that's not a very indie rock setlist

Yeah :3:
Look at the audience, not down at your instrument, ad lib small amounts as it adds musical interest and shows that you are more than just a band playing covers, enjoy the songs even if you don't want to play them, and most of all: have a good time!
Call them cunts and abuse them
That's what the local bands here seem to do...
Don't look down at your instrument, I did this very early on too, then I saw a tape of me playing. :ohdear:
Then again, it was some Christmas shit for school.
lol I'd be doing that
"Must, not, mis-fret"
A bigger one is that, if you make a mistake, it is very likely that noone will notice/care, so don't get stressed out if you do make a mistake, laugh it off.
Lot of pyrotechnics.
I only have experience of playing in a screamo/hardcore band, but what I generally get compliments about is that we are CONNECTING to the people we play for. They feel the shit we feel. Look into their eyes, move around the stage, swing your guitar wildly when you're playing In Bloom etc. Make it rememberable. Just let it flow naturally and you're gonna rock.
Also sorry but it's pretty funny that you say your genre is Indie and you're playing covers.

en-g u stupid ur not supposed to reply with image macros
on topic:
how old are you? do you drink? have a beer or two before going on stage, i find that it always relaxes me a bit before the show and usually works wonders for me
i think it's because when you play COMPLETELY sober you're so aware and worried about the sound and think too much about your playing, when you've calmed down a bit you aren't thinking about anything else but playing your instrument

This is true. People who notice small mistakes in a live performance and complain about them are complete douchebags anyway.
Don't fall off the stage.
And also, what position are you? if you are singer, Please do not do air guitar during the solo. I hate when singers do that. There is no point as there is a guy doing it for real. unless you're using a recording, Then it's okay
If you play any kind of guitar do not freak out when you make a mistake if you do not show that you make a mistake no one will notice.
Always death growl the song name :smug:
always move around, always have energy. Look at the crowd, interact with the crowd. Don't focus on singing, focus on being a front man (assuming you are) and entertaining the crowd

Don't get high, makes you play like shit.
Practice beforehand a lot. Keeps the songs fresh in your mind.
