So the communist manifesto. Pretty big fucking deal, as it inspired the most evil government known to mankind: The USSR.
However, it is very different from the direction the USSR moved in. The idea behind the manifesto was that socialism comes before communism, and that a workers revolution is necessary for the future communist society. The USSR went full socialist, but the government was different from Marx's vision. he wanted essentially Canada. A free, socialist country. He described the economy as socialist and the government as a "Dictatorship of the proletariat" which means that the proletariat are the dictators: democracy. He explains that the world is slowly leaning towards socialism, and gives evidence from feudal society to industrial society.
Marx's problem is that he is such a horrid writer that everything he says is misinterpreted. The formatting of the book is disgusting, and looks more like a really long rant with 3 chapters and new paragraphs here and there. The chapters run together, and are the same idea, with more words piled on. Over all, it seems Marx had the ideas neatly sorted in his head, but his problem is that he was a philosopher and a sociologist, not an English/Linguistics major. If he had gotten someone else to write for him, maybe then he would have been better understood.
Communism is awesome and evil capitalists need to die so we can all live with rainbows, candy, and unicorns.

Facepunch should be communist.
So we can all be a mix between Gold, Blue and Green.

Man, that sounds gay.
communism is awful and if you even like it remotely you are awful :colbert:
and that book is pretty awful too
You are so sad.
You're right. I'm so sad that the world hasn't overthrown the oppressive Wall Street fat cats who wear stovepipe hats and have huge bellies from all the food that they steal from the proletariat.

Khmer Rouge Cambodia was more evil then USSR IMO!
Man, that sounds gay.
Exactly! Under communism, there is gay marriage as well because there is no god with communism!

The original communist ideas were great, but no one managed to pull it off.
define communism
Awesome is the exact definition of it.

not you

Planned economy, everyone gets the same amount of money etc, etc.

Lol "everyone gets the same amount of everything" is a horrible idea when you think about it

When you simplify the current systems down to that sort of thing it sounds really, really shitty too.
"Some people get to live with everything they could ever need or want, everybody else gets nothing."

Define most evil government
I would argue that people like the Mongol empire would be worse
Communism is when everybody shares. Simple as that. There is no more money to show for anything, and there is an anarchy in that people cooperate and don't need a leader.

So regardless of what you do, you should have the same amount as everyone else? yeah that sounds wonderful!
communism is a terrible idea even in theory

That's not communism, that's leninist/stalinist socialism.
I think communism could work, if done the correct way.
Book was okay. At times the characters felt too one-dimensional. And there wasn't really a good story structure, no climax or anything, just an equal distribution of actions throughout the pages.

Lol "everyone gets the same amount of everything" is a horrible idea when you think about it
No, not really. It would depend on how big the group of people is. The more people, the poorer everyone is. If it was applied to a small group of people, it would work well.
That's not communism, that's leninist/stalinist socialism.
What is communism then? is it marxism? or maybe maoism?
What is communism then? is it marxism? or maybe maoism?
Maoism is the least like communism.
Communism is communism. It's when you share everything with everyone. like a well oiled machine. It's very antimaterialistic.

How do people keep the incentive to work? If everyone is sharing with people, are people going to work? We work for money, not for the sake of working.

yea, see it's this whole concept of social evolution and antimaterialism. I wrote an essay on 420chan.
one sec lemme dig it up
edit:
Ever since major recorded history started (around the fall of the roman empire and start of Feudal society) Humanity has had a socialist bias.
While the world evolved, the ruling classes were forced to as well. People were not content with being slaves, so they evolved. From feudal society was birthed the Renaissance, where an explosion of literacy occurred, causing people to become more aware of their surroundings. People were not content with being unable to switch from class to class, so they evolved. From the Renaissance was birthed the Americas. Everything from then forth was just a very slippery slope on the path to socialism. Public school, Public roads, Minimum wage, Public Hospitals, Labor Unions, and social security, the government became increasingly fiscally conservative while socially liberal. You see, the first world countries have become more and more secular. In canada, they have given enough freedom to the people to make Americans envious of their health system, their legalized gay marriage, and their narcotics laws. The united states, albeit slowly, is following in the footsteps of the rest of the world.
Why did the USSR not work, you say? Because society is not to be pushed. Like mother nature and her weather, you are not to tempt fate. Humanity, though determined, was unprepared for the anti-materialist ways. The people of Russia were still clinging to their physical tethers, and thus, still in a capitalist state of mind.
Where are we headed you say? The course of evolution can never be accurately predicted, but human instinct is predictable. Some may say that the instinct of humans to dominate is the greatest of all, and can never be conquered. However, the instinct of humans to survive, as a race is greater. We will pass legislation to further human improvement. We will look back a long time from now, maybe a hundred, maybe a thousand, and think of all the stupid laws we've had. We'll enter a golden age of humanity and will achieve the very definition of brotherhood, unity, and peace. Communism
I for one do not envy Canadian healthcare and I was born in Canada. Don't get me wrong, American healthcare is ridiculously expensive (just had a 25-27 thousand dollar hip replacement, yikes) But it's quality stuff.
