I hope someone posts a video of it. [editline]2nd March 2011[/editline] god damn it.
That was awesome.
This bit involved killing a wave of AK-47s and their attached men[...]
Hehe
I love dice.
It looks like another shitty Frostbyte game. I hated Bad Company, I hated Bad Company 2, I hated Medal of Honor(Bad Company 2 v1.5). They're not bad games by any means but it doesn't feel like a Battlefield game and it looks like this one won't either. From what was released today, it's nothing like the Battlefield I knew from ten years ago. Everything is scripted to hell, the environment look very closed. On Kotaku right now there is an article named "Battlefield 3 resumes hostilities with Call of Duty" and basically it describes every bone I have to pick with DICE right now, these guys have seen Battlefield 3 in action, behind closed doors so I'd take their word for it. The lack of plans for an SDK doesn't help ease my frustrations because at least I knew with previous games that if they managed to fuck it up, the modding community would be there to fix it and they'd be able to add onto it.
I watched it full screen, lost track of time at the end and then.. BF3.. FFFuuu.. :( Looks very good!

Edit: Only losers self-rate But I wanted to rate myself clock.

We haven't seen ANYTHING from multiplayer yet. Judging what multiplayer is going it be is pretty much pointless without actually SEEING ANYTHING FROM IT.
http://www.ea.com/battlefield3/videos/faultline-ep1
Holy shit.

Worst battlefield ever.
I found the car honking at the beginning to cover up the guy's swearing a little funny.
Damn, this is looking pretty impressive at this point.
He is right, looks nothing like Battlefield.
He is right, looks nothing like Battlefield.
I guess we can go back to 2005 graphics if that makes it look more like battlefield to you

Wait until you've seen the damn multiplayer before you start saying its 'not a battlefield game'. Seriously people this doesn't look like battlefield because its the fucking singleplayer which battlefield didn't have until bad company. How can you not figure that out?

Games progress, and chose things which favor new audiances. The old Battlefields were great, and I'll have fond memories of playing Battlefield: Vietnam as Ace of Spades, but I'll just be glad too have another Battlefield game which will advance on an already awesome engine.
The only thing not awesome about Frostbite is its lack of modifiability.
The only thing not awesome about Frostbite is its lack of modifiability.
and the overwhelming focus on destruction is pretty terrible too.
These seem like the most realistic graphics I have seen so far. The trailer was still probably heavily edited, but the graphics still seem very well.
The only thing not awesome about Frostbite is its lack of modifiability.
I thought there was going to be an SDK for frostbite 2.
I thought there was going to be an SDK for frostbite 2.
No there isn't. Also might want to read this article too: http://kotaku.com/#!5774127
The first time I saw the demo I asked Bach, the developer who showed me the game, where the Battlefield signatures were. I told him I'd seen what looked more like the competition's game or like the rebooted Medal of Honor from last year than it resembled what I think of when I imagine the sandbox, choice-filled gameplay of Battlefield. Later for that, DICE's Bach said. "We want to show we can do what everyone else was doing."
:psyduck:
The only thing not awesome about Frostbite is its lack of modifiability.
That has nothing to do with the game, you just don't have access to the tools, they can be made anyway.
Stop being so negative. From what we've actually seen it looks like a brilliant game. Although the reload animations look a bit stiff as with every other game on frostbite
That has nothing to do with the game, you just don't have access to the tools, they can be made anyway.
He never said anything about the game, he said Frostbite which is the engine. BC2 didn't really have any mods either.
He never said anything about the game, he said Frostbite which is the engine. BC2 didn't really have any mods either.
Using the word engine makes me cringe. It's irrelevant anyway, everything is modable regardless if tools are publicly available.
Tools aren't publicly available, it is an engine and there wasn't any mod tools for the previous iterations of the engine. It looks pretty bleak.
