My friend's little brother goes to Paul Revere Middle School (la, ca) and he was called down to the main office and asked by the principle of the whole school to take a drug test. He said "I have recieved a comment from a student that you know people who smoke marijuana or that you smoke marijuana. Please take this drug test." He's only in 7th Grade. Are they allowed to do this? This all seems very fishy because obviously the principle wouldnt call you down. In my experience there is always a dean of disipline or the assistant principle would take to you. I have never been asked to speak to a principle since 3rd grade. Also, there is a "student services" building in paul revere where kids usually go if they are in trouble. People never go to the main office if they are in trouble. I feel like the school has no right to do this as the school was never warned that the staff would do stuff like this. He also told me they were searching phones of people who are suspicious and looking for photos of nudes of girls at our school or for pictures of drugs. I am so happy I don't go there anymore.

Yes. Being in school means they're responsible for you so they can pretty much do whatever they want with you within reason.

no, public schools can't force students to take a drug test unless it's for sports or whatever
i would flip a shit if a teacher thought it was okay to look through my phone, and even more so if he asked me to do a random drug test.
