*Facepalm*

In their defense, I didn't really care for History until I was about 13-14, when I got hooked on Age of Empires, along with having a damn good History teacher who made the subject quite interesting. All of the sudden, ancient history sounded fascinating, so I read up on what I was interested in, all the way up to the Cold War. I still do it, Dan Carlin's Hardcore History podcasts are absolutely amazing and I highly recommend them.
What I'm saying is, they may or may not be interested in History, so all they vaguely remember is what they've been taught back in primary school... so depending on who you ask, regardless if it's a boy or a girl, they may not know about something that should be considered common knowledge, like WWII. Getting a few dates wrong is not a big deal, as long as you know what it was about, for instance.
I didn't know the bad guys were called the 3 axis powers. I would probably have answered x, y and z.
I only call them "The Axis". :P

They were considered the Axis because when Germany allied with Italy, it created an "axis of evil" across central Europe.
I thought it was because that the world would "spin on a new axis"
This Berlin-Rome vertical line is not an obstacle but rather an axis around which can revolve all those European states with a will to collaboration and peace.
The axis of evil is american revisionism. It was a term used by Mussilini and definitely had nothing to do with an Axis of "evil"

There's multiple origins for the term. Starting with hungarians pushing for a tri-axis agreement. To Mussolini claiming that the axis of history moves trough Berlin.
This made me physically cringe so hard it caused a singularity event
WHY WOULD YOU SAY HITLER WAS AN ALLIED LEADER AND GERMANY WAS PART OF THE ALLIES
Pssh, none of these scrubs reppin' the F4U Corsair? The only waifu tier plane worth shouting 'bout.

"Fuck me like the fat man fucked Nagasaki"
"What's nagasaki?"
"...get your coat, we're done here"
Is this staged? It feels staged
Tbf the ones saying 1942 is almost forgivable because the US entered WW2 in December 41
Note: Dan Carlin is not a Historian. His podcasts can contain inaccuracies that are factually incorrect. Please do not take his word as law and look up sources from trained, professional historians as fact checks on things he says. He sometimes exaggerates things for entertainment purposes.
Just wanted to note this, as an aspiring Historian.
My 8th grade history teacher gave us all tons and tons of worksheets about WW2. They were all 90+ questions long, front and back. I can tell you tons of crap about WW2. At least half of it I've forgotten but if I'm ever invited to a trivia night about WW2 I will absolutely dominate.

We called them Allies.
Remember source criticism here boys. If you interview 100 people on each gender, you can choose the dumb ones.
Preach equality all you want but interest in war history really is a guy subject.

sure, but the fact that some of them said stuff like hitler and germany were part of the allies and WW2 started in the 1800s makes me extremely skeptical.

They definitely cherry picked people for their video but it's still true.

Yup, I am well aware of that - you people never stop complaining about that. Still, they can be quite informative.
Ehh, I once met a girl who didn't know what 9/11 was. This is nothing. As a history major, I did cringe quite a bit at this though. I'm a bit amazed at how little history the average person knows.

Maybe they cherrypicked the dumbest ones
Interesting I never knew germany was an allied power.
:speechless:

This is true. I studied history at university, most of my classes were just over half female, and the majority of them knew shit all other than Hitler = bad and Vimy Ridge.
i think it is U.S, Russia, And North Korea. .
Don't make a joke about north korea or you will fuck up..
Its not that much of a surprise
Because of the way western culture (or pretty much any culture I'd imagine) works Boys are far more likely to be raised with toys/movies/video games etc that are based on historical warfare. E.g Any kid who lived through the last decade who played the first call of duty knows for a fact that WW2 involved the British, Soviets, Americans and Germans at least.
Girls for the most part will learn about that stuff in school history lessons and from relatives.
So I guess it does highlight that for the girls in the video whatever schools they went to failed to teach them WW2 which ties into almost every single historical event in some shape or form coming after it. Which is a little concerning.

no it isn't
anybody who thinks the war began in 1941 or 1942 is pretty much ignorant of the war
I feel so bad right now, because didn't know the answer to any of the questions. :ohno:

It's just dates, man. The events are what's really important.
