About 32 percent of Californians want to create their own country, a new Reuters/Ipsos poll found, including many Democrats who are frustrated with the election of President Trump. Pollsters surveyed 500 Californians between Dec. 6 and Jan. 19. Nationally, 22 percent of respondents favor secession, they found. The movement — dubbed “Calexit” — began after Trump won the 2016 presidential election. A group of liberal Californians formed the Yes California Independence campaign with the hopes of getting a secession initiative on the state’s 2018 ballot. When a similar poll was conducted in 2014, about 20 percent of Californians supported secession. California now has a strong Democratic majority in its state legislature. Democrat Hillary Clinton handily won the state in November. California Gov. Jerry Brown (D) has also vowed to fight Trump on the president's policies, including climate change. "We've got the scientists, we've got the lawyers and we're ready to fight," Brown said in a December speech. He also threatened that California would “launch its own damn satellite” if the Trump administration eliminates NASA’s Earth science programs, which gather information on climate change. "If Trump turns off the satellites, California will launch its own damn satellite," Brown added.
Not gonna happen.
Good. If they leave they will secure Republican victories in the US forever.
Isn't California one of the largest economies in the world? I mean good luck, but it'd be a huge blow to them and the American economy. Found the article http://www.sacbee.com/news/business/article83780667.html
Enough stupid ideas Trump's stupid enough
Isn't California one of the largest economies in the world? I mean good luck, but it'd be a huge blow to them and the American economy.
They wont last a year
Pollsters surveyed 500 Californians between Dec. 6 and Jan. 19.
lmao nice sample size
They don't have enough water to sustain themselves and their large economy. Also they can't leave legally. And if they left illegally they would be invaded and conquered. Actually, this doesn't sound like a bad idea. Maybe we can have a "California Reconstruction" and purge all the lefty filth from the state. (User was banned for this post ("Awful post.
Actually, this doesn't sound like a bad idea. Maybe we can have a "California Reconstruction" and purge all the lefty filth from the state.
are you advocating genocide?
Isn't California one of the largest economies in the world? I mean good luck, but it'd be a huge blow to them and the American economy.
California has a higher GDP than France. Or India. Or Brazil. It's sixth in the world in raw GDP. But because of high cost of living, when you adjust for purchasing power parity, it's like... top 10. California seceding makes more economic sense than Scotland leaving. It also won't happen and it'd also ruin the US economy.
and purge all the lefty filth from the state.
What the fuck is wrong with you
are you advocating genocide?
I'm not advocating anything. I'm obviously joking. But I was refering to the southern reconstruction after the Civil War.
I'm obviously joking
I don't know man, after your non-ironic white genocide comment in a previous thread it's kinda hard to tell
Actually, this doesn't sound like a bad idea. Maybe we can have a "California Reconstruction" and purge all the lefty filth from the state.
this reads like a parody did you read this out loud before posting

Maybe you're right, it's not like California is a major net contributor to federal assistance and staunch red states are the largest receivers of federal assistance. Oh, wait. How's Kansas doing under Brownback nowadays?
Also they can't leave legally. And if they left illegally they would be invaded and conquered.
So they leave illegally. Could you imagine the political fallout if the USA invaded itself? Realistically there's nothing the USA could do to stop a state leaving without everyone dissociating with them

That is not how it works.
And if they left illegally they would be invaded and conquered.
I just can't imagine USA actually sending military against it's own/ex people. There is no way people in rest of the countries would support it, no way.
lmao nice sample size
Isn't 1k standard for like, nationwide studies though???
So they leave illegally. Could you imagine the political fallout if the USA invaded itself?
Yeah. Its not like that has ever happened before.
yeah and people also kept slaves in the 1800s. it's 2017 incase you didn't notice. [editline]27th January 2017[/editline] oops
Yeah. Its not like that has ever happened before.
Are you seriously comparing USA in the 1860s, a relatively new nation that most countries didn't give much of a shit about, to America in the 2010s, an economic, political and military juggernaut stronger than anything that's ever existed in the past?
They don't have enough water to sustain themselves and their large economy. Also they can't leave legally. And if they left illegally they would be invaded and conquered.
guess the 2nd amendment's not good for much then lol
yeah and people also kept slaves in the 1800s. it's 2017 incase you didn't notice.
You realize there is a massive Civil War going on right now in Syria, right? And 2 states seceded from Ukraine successfully in 2014 resulting in another bloody civil war. Don't "current year" me. If you don't think massive wars are possible today then you're delusional. This isn't the end of history. [sp]Now watch as somebody accuses me of advocating for bloodshed because of this post.[/sp]
