So I just installed a bran new subwoofer in my SUV a couple days ago and whenever I turn the volume up over a quarter of the way, the bass sounds like it is "flapping" or someone is kicking the side of my Explorer insted of a nice clear "thump" like you would want from a sub.
Could this be an issue that the sub isn't getting enough power or somethinf else. I installed the sub correctly so that isn't the problem.
Help is appriciated! Thanks!
What watt amp? What watt speaker?
Kind of vital info there.
Also, how is your amp hooked up?
The only part I know is that the new sub is 200 watt. I have no idea what the app watt is but it is the standard app in a 1996 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer (which I'm guessing is low) and the app is also hooked up standard (how it would come with the car).
Does that help at all?
If your amp is too weak and you try to push it harder than possible the audio will clip and you would essentially get a square-wave shaped sound instead of a sine-wave.

You need to buy a separate amp by the sound of it.
Pretty sure you have too much lettuce.
