So me and my friend were talking about how many paint artists there are out here on facepunch, and how amazing you guys are. So we figured we should challenge you. Our idea is this:
Every week I'll post new guidelines for us folks. With these guidelines you are to make a piece of artwork. You could win fame, fortune, and whatever else I can offer you! Now, let the competition BEGIN.

I'd like to know more about the prize. Fame you say? You got some kind of frontpage you can showcase the art?

I really think it would be more fitting if you gave people a template to use and the palette that should be used.

Redo it in palette and it'll be fine. Palette is now in OP. Feel free to use any colors in the example as well.
But I am very sure it will make it look worse :ohdear:
Is the theme somewhat inspired by the fact that Ludum Dare#17 had islands as a theme? :/
Can we extend at least the palette in what luminiscence concerns?

Yes.
To elaborate on the palette, you can do this.
