The concept of 'whiteness' is fucking stupid to begin with, as it relates even to nationalities.
First you didn't consider Irish to be white, then they became white as italians came- and oh boy if we weren't considered white then. Both are caucasoid so there wasn't really any reason to feel the US half men half bald eagle race threatened, it was just a matter of cultural heritage. But still, couples of mixed nationalities/races were seen as wrong as fcuk, and still are to some extent.
