I just spent a while reading about Terry and TempleOS because I had no fucking clue who this guy was, what TempleOS was, or why the fuck it was posted here or why it's supposed to be funny.
So he's Chris-chan, except a programmer, and schizophrenic instead of autistic? That's what I gleaned in a way.
The IDE that comes with TempleOS supports several features, such as embedding images in code. It uses a non-standard text format which has support for hypertext links, images and 3D meshes to be embedded into what are otherwise regular ASCII files. You can have, for example, a spinning 3D model of a tank as a comment in source code.
jesus christ this is strange
i didn't know bill nye was so fucking paranoid off the show.
sad really...
I can't help but feel pity for this man because he could have made something amazing, not hilarious, if he was medicated. As a person suffering from mental illness myself who has been admitted to psychiatric wards several times(mostly when I snapped and started hurting myself with excessive movements out of fear and panic) I have seen several, really gifted people who sadly suffer from attention span and/or psychotic disorders, who through refusal of medication, completely squash their potential. Then there are people who have tried several kinds of medication, me included, who can only function in periods, and to whom, medication rarely works. I almost died, in the serious, non-clickbait way from the SSRI-inhibitor "Prozac" due to serotonin syndrome.
Mental illness is sad, and sometimes, rarely though if you ask me, hilarious. Like there was this old woman at one place I was at who was convinced that the germans won WWII and the danish resistance movement had secretly infiltrated the psychiatric sector of the public health system and used psych wards as a way to discretely get people out of work and internment camps.

Pretty much, although AFAIK he doesn't have a "fan community" the way CWC does. Which is probably a good thing. He's more "quietly ignored" than "relentlessly mocked".
I feel extremely bad for him, but he does tend to say "nigger" a lot.

His state at this point is really sad to me. I hope he gets better soon, seriously.
Honestly it's kinda' a shame, because with the amount of effort and, frankly, real-world systems and programming knowledge it takes to create something even as janky as TempleOS, he could've had a serious systems development position at some company, or been a major contributor to open source projects like Linux and other similar things.
I've never really been as interested in the whole deal with the slurs. On one hand it's not good yeah but on the other hand it's a symptom of a deeper problem more than anything else.
For the afro and the beard that guy was very civil, I know some guys that go the barbershop weekly that would of just punched, stabbed, or shot him.

Judging from the YouTube comments I would've thought somebody got in his face and started something and he said it in retaliatory anger or something but that's not at all what actually happened sheesh
I feel bad for the guy Terry said that to; that was just downright rude

Sad thing is that he isn't really capable of understanding right from wrong
harmless sure, but its clear that he can't really know how to act

Yes, since we all know people with an afro and a beard are dangerous people ready to flip out at anything and stab a man to death in public in the middle of broad daylight.

This is so accidentally racist that I don't even know what to say
Just WOW
On the videos he looks like a really harmless Trevor from GTAV.
Every time I watch anything by Terry, I feel extremely sad.
He is such a talented person; TempleOS is so awesome to play around with (putting aside all the weird religious stuff), and it is very complex. I believe he created the entire OS completely on his own, didn't he?
He is an extremely talented person but his mental illness unfortunately prevents him from possibly achieving great things, which is why I feel very sad. :(
I don't hate Terry for being a bit racist, because I keep in mind that he has a very severe mental illness which clearly affects his beliefs greatly.

I'm sorry, I shouldn't be laughing, but holy shit my dude whaaat the heeell

I've honestly never heard of this guy before and at first I thought he was just another Jace Connors type character, buy yeah, nah
From the very little research I just did on him he's got a master's degree in electrical engineering, lived a completely normal life and did work as a software engineer on operating systems for Ticketmaster in the 90's, while creating a computer controlled milling machine he was thinking of bringing to the market in his spare time, and was about to start working as an engineer for satellite control systems before his mental illness really spiralled out of control. He began believing that he was being stalked by either the government or some mega corporation, and got obsessed by various conspiracy theories. More and more pieces of the puzzle fell into place inside his head and he became convinced that God not only exists, but has a plan for him, after having been an atheist for most of his life. Inspired by Jesus he donated most of his money and belongings to charity, and commanded by God he began working on HolyC and TempleOS. He's obsessed with randomness and believes that God speaks to him through it, not sure where his racism came from.
It's also a real shame that so few actually take mental illness seriously, while most will just go "lmao look at this fucking ~autist~" or whatever. He's obviously a genius burdened by a disease, and it's very possible that he'd been up there with for instance Torvalds had it not been for it, or, had his satellite plans worked out, working for an organisation such as NASA
Can someone give me a run-down on what TempleOS is exactly? The wiki page didn't provide much info and in general Facepunch contemporary summaries are quite reliable whenever I ask for them. I'm just curious because a couple of posts here seem to think it's a really neat OS but I have no idea what's so good about it

I'm only in a tiny bit but it seems like a really good read so far- going to finish it now. Thank you plenty.

Did you take too much at once or just react badly to it? I thought Serotonin syndrome was what happens when you take too much serotonin potentiating drugs.
His brain is so fucked up i feel bad for him he might get beaten up

I only got like 15 mg so it was a really bad reaction.
See this is why I always tell facepunch IM BLACK howd I get a racism ban for talking about a guy with unkempt hair being surprisingly civil?

Your race doesn't exempt you from stereotyping.
As always, the comments section is a toxic cesspool. :s:
I've never heard of TempleOS before but nothing about it or its contents doesn't sound absurd.
