I'd just like to drop this here, and ask. Where have you guys learned how to speak/write japanese? It'd be nice to get some small tips or nudges to the right direction.

Probably all broken since i scarcely study anymore but I'm off to work right now so I can't really search for errors anyways. I'd like to get back into studying soon though, so if anyone wants to help me out with any errors I made and make in the future it'd be much appreciated.
I can pretty much do some basic things like colors, count to 20, basic greetings. I do have a question though, does hiragana/katakana/kanji comes all together in word? mixed up? hiragana is still the one i am learning though.

Kanji and hiragana are used for japanese words, katakana for foreign words.

I read "The Woman in the Dunes" by Kobo Abe Recently. Thought it was a kind of absurd book. He also wrote "the box man", about a guy who is fed up with society so he decides to wear a box on his head from now on.
People have compared him to Kafka, but I think Kafka is a fucking horrible writer. The absurdity of the situation is drowned out by how horribly depressing the characters are.

Yes, but as said the IME tends to need a dual n press to register "n", since it assumes otherwise you are writing n*, i.e. na
If I don't triple press n, we get こんいちは, which is ko n i chi wa, instead of こんにちは, ko n ni chi wa
Just bought Genki Vol1 and its workbook today. Maybe I can study Japanese between breaks in class instead of browsing reddit. Maybe.

There's a noticeable lack of actual Japanese people on this forum. I think it's because Gaming PC's and FPS games aren't terribly popular in Japan, and Facepunch is a forum for a mod for an FPS game that's a PC franchise? That sounds like it could be the reason. :v:

Of course there's the glorious [URL="http://www.guidetojapanese.org/which"]http://www.guidetojapanese.org/[/URL] which is great for grammar.
Also another free thing that isn't quite for learning, but is very useful is raikisama or rikaichan, depending on your browser.
