• Is possible to make a GIF with more colors?

To make them with better quality. Is it?
What's the standard you're working with now? Can you post one of your GIFs? You can up the quality slightly by choosing an adaptive palette over the standard RGB256 colour one; the number of colours will remain the same, but only colours in the image will be added to the palette. If you can't get to where you want to go with .GIFs, maybe you should educate yourself on animated PNGs
-snip- ! :<
PNG is the best, not even close to JPG
PNG is the best, not even close to JPG
Yes of course, forgot about that. I meant the most optimal, as in both file size and quality.
APNG is what you should use if you want uncompressed colors. It also supports transparacy:

very pretty [editline]11:19AM[/editline] My avatar is an apng with transparency as well.
PNG is the best, not even close to JPG
That totally depends on the type of image. JPG is still better for detailed photographs at high quality settings when you're taking filesize in to account.
I think GIF can do 24-bit color, but it doesn't compress very well. You might as well go with PNG if you're going to do that.
I wish photoshop supported animated PNGs.
I wish photoshop supported animated PNGs.
apng isn't standard. not gonna happen.
Well... It'll be standard soon enough.
I think GIF can do 24-bit color, but it doesn't compress very well. You might as well go with PNG if you're going to do that.
Only 256. [editline]12:03PM[/editline] Well it sorta barely exists but the files are so huge that it's ridiculous.
See this? I want the gif one to have the same quality as the first photo.
Looks like you're exporting with incorrect interlace settings. IrfanView will make it easy for you. Just export your image with "Save Interlace" ticked. Then you'll get nice quality like this: What program are you using? (and why are you using the GIF format for static images?)
dither bro [editline]01:17AM[/editline] Looks like you're using photoshop. Save for web and devices. You'll have tons of options then
Well... It'll be standard soon enough.
Doubt it.
Macromedia Fireworks MX
Macromedia Fireworks MX
Good god.
A gif can only have a maximum of 256 colors. It's mostly unused now in favor of PNG-8, which has similar limitations but is better at compression or something. Gifs are usually only used for animation nowadays. This is a good resource about what filetypes to use for images and when. If you really really want it to be a gif for some reason, you'd be better off downloading a program like ifranview (as Tanner mentioned) to do the converting rather than macromedia fireworks. Similar to how you'd never use mspaint to save a jpg, ever.
<------------- APNG avatar
Good god.
I still use it
why do you need fireworks if you've got flash, photoshop, and illustrator?
Fireworks MX is awesome, I still use it too.
Good god.
What? It may be old, but it's still very good! For some reason i don't want to change to Photoshop, i have a feeling that i have to learn all the shit again :saddowns:. You can do very cool shit on it
