[release]The city has ordered Occupy Nova Scotia protesters to leave Victoria Park and to forget about returning to Grand Parade.
“Council and the public have respected the right to peaceful protest and free assembly, but the time has come for the encampment to end,” Mayor Peter Kelly said today in a news release.
“Our parks are for all of the public, not an unregulated campground for some.”

The eviction order refers to an HRM bylaw which prohibits camping in municipal parks. The same bylaw makes it illegal to be in parks between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. without the written permission of HRM.
The provisions of the parks bylaw will also be enforced in the Grand Parade, the city said.
It was unclear from the city's news release when or how the order will be enforced.
About 60 Occupy Nova Scotia participants left the public square in front of Halifax city hall on Tuesday in advance of Remembrance Day ceremonies and pitched tents at Victoria Park.
They expected to return to Grand Parade tomorrow.
Under the notice, the occupiers are required to take down their tents and other structures and collect their belongings so Victoria Park may return to regular public use.
"Since the departure of the protesters from the Grand Parade, we have made a significant effort to bring it back to the condition the public expect,” the mayor said. “Camping will not be permitted in the Grand Parade or any HRM park.”[/release]
As seen here, members of Occupy Nova Scotia agreed to temporarily vacate and clean Grand Parade so the city could hold a Remembance Day ceremony. It was planned that they could return tomorrow, but now's as good a time as any to give them the boot it seems.
Can't say no one saw this coming though

There's an Occupy Nova Scotia?
I thought like, 30 people lived there.

Quite the contrary, there's 946,397 people who live there.

"Yeah, we respect your right to protest but you have to get out"
Fuck you, you fucking hypocrite. Protests mean nothing if they can be ended on a whim!
A backstabbing hypocrite, at that.
Protesters moving camp as a sign of respect and good will, having Peter Kelly go back on the agreement made between him, OccupyNS, and a group of veterans, and have HRP boot them out into a heavy downpour, arresting 14 people, etc.
Keep in mind these are the protesters who voluntarily moved to a different park so that the city could hold a Remembrance Day ceremony
and now they're getting shit on anyway
fuck you halifax
edit: didn't see the guy above
This city can be so backwards sometimes, it's a damn shame.
I'll definitely be at Grand Parade tomorrow. Fuck this

Yeah, I bet they were planning on using the Remembrance Day as an excuse to kick them out
