• Schizophrenia onset, would it have been caused by weed?

Nothing's diagnosed officially yet, but I'm seeing a specialist tomorrow (Can't wait for the scheduled appointment) Without giving too much information about the illness, about 6-7 months ago I smoked weed really heavily, every day etc, shit was good. Would it be to do with this? I don't smoke it now, this has come around the past 4-5 weeks, or would it be more to do with that my grandmother has it? What do you think?
If you're grandma has it, then I would stay away. Do either of your parents have Schizophrenia?
It's in your genes and you should probably give up weed.
Sorry man, weed is known to bring out schizophrenia if you have it in your genes. You're probably going to have to give it up.
I also heard that smoking through tinfoil gives you schizophrenia.
If you're grandma has it, then I would stay away. He replied "What about your parent's treatment?" "No...what treatment?" "Uhhhh...nevermind, it doesn't matter" ...
I also heard that smoking through tinfoil gives you schizophrenia.
*alzheimers.
*alzheimers.
and it doesn't, the melting point of aluminum is nowhere near that of a lighter's flame
and it doesn't, the melting point of aluminum is nowhere near that of a lighter's flame
Debatable. I've seen both sides of the argument and nothing is conclusive. My dads a machinist. There are many different kinds of aluminum and I'm sure they would use the cheapest, shittiest, and most malleable type of aluminum as store-bought foil. For example, many train-cars that tow coal are made from aluminum. That's some of the sturdiest aluminum available and it's melting point is much higher than average. If there are any veteran welders here, they could probably tell you all about the variation of specific metals
i'm not too sure, i haven't read much about it, but i was under the impression that lighter heat would be enough. and, to defend myself, i was only correcting his mistake.

There's actually very little, if any, proven information that shows smoking weed causes schizophrenia. It's far more likely that your condition has become more prominent because of your age, and because of your family history. (how old are you by the way?) If it runs in your genes however, then weed may have triggered your schizophrenia. You probably would have developed it anyhow, just a little later in life. Although according to research, alcohol is 4 times as likely to induce schizophrenia. Also think about this...if weed did cause schizophrenia, wouldn't there have been a dramatic rise of the condition during the 1960's-70's when cannabis use started becoming more popular? And yes if you are diagnosed you will most likely have to stop smoking weed.
well about the tinfoil, there's still production byproducts on in that probably aren't the greatest thing to inhale. you can still taste the foil if you smoke out of it, there's got to be something not good that you're inhaling even if it isn't the aluminum.
it's not that weed causes it, weed brings out symptoms that are already there

I was comparing humans to pylons or something (I don't remember much). I also heard my first violent voice (I hear voices but not those type)... I asked my girlfriend if she would like for me to stroke her hair and as soon as I said that the voice said "I'll rip your fucking hair out". Just because they say that, I don't have to do it. Also it's a family doctor.
that's weird... i used to have weird thoughts like that when i was 4 to 6ish... i'd be talking to my aunty or something and i'd say "thank you aunty" but then i'd think of something 'bad' like "fuck you bitch" and i never knew why i would think these things and not control them, and it made me feel bad about myself. Slowly went away and started thinking normally around the age of 7. Although i have OCD and it was a lot worse in my early years. So it could have just been that. My only OCD tick i have left is counting syllables. Oh how i wish i could stop counting syllables
I'd deal with it if i was you. Schizophrenia is legit a bunch of bullshit and i sincerely hope and pray to Vishnu and Odin that you do not start meds. My mom and her triplet sisters (she's one of the triplets) are all psychotic and exhibit OCD, Acute Depression, Schizophrenia, Dementia, and other such symptoms. I smoke weed a lot, and do LSD and mushrooms basically every chance I get. For me, it's more like.. well, imagine a whisper that's sudden and comes from nowhere, that scares the shit out of you, that you can't decipher the meaning of. Like it's just too quiet to hear the words. Or sometimes, often when I'm stoned, ambient noises will sound like words. Such as walking through the city, I might hear my name being called out from far off, but nobody around knows me. Or the put-put of a car might sound like words. It's difficult to express accurately. Either way, don't get meds. If you don't believe me, research the fuck out of it all, and you will see.
I feel like i need to start them every day is fucked and full of paranoia and being agitated and my thoughts are going crazy the people in my head are trying to make me do violent things what do the meds do? if you dont mind me asking
I think I am little OCD... I can't stop picking my hairs, biting my nails, pulling shit out of my nose, on other small stuff. But I may be just hypochondriac heh..
I feel like i need to start them every day is fucked and full of paranoia and being agitated and my thoughts are going crazy the people in my head are trying to make me be violent what do the meds do? if you dont mind me asking
They might give you benzodiazepines for anxiety, they work wery good but their addiction is like one of the worst addictions in the world. They might give you anti-psychotics, but they will make you lazy and/or look like zombie. And maybe some SRI / SSRI, those meds can permanently re-wire your brains, but I don't think this happened to many people. And side effects are not good either. Withdrawals can be strange too.
Thanks for the info What would the anti-psychotics do?
Thanks for the info What would the anti-psychotics do?
I don't really know. Never researched those.
I think I figured it out. I think I've been abducted by aliens, I've always been terrified of it. Maybe they've switched something on and/or finally come around to monitering me What should I do?
Well, as far as I know there were no aliens detected on earth yet, and you know it. Just try to ignore those thoughts, if it gets worse, I'd find a help. Basically, I have no idea what is the best thing to do in such state :/
Meds would probably be your best bet. Just do your research on any drugs you are prescribed and try to talk to your doc the best that you can so he can figure the best course of action and get you back to feeling normal. My friend's bro is a schizophrenic (took a shit ton of acid, never felt normal again, tried to stab his mom) He takes meds now and is a pretty normal/cool dude that can play the shit out of the guitar.
Trust your doctor, the medication will do you more good than harm.
Heres a post I made a couple weeks ago about my friend who has what I believe to be a mix of bi-polar and schizophrenia: http://www.facepunch.com/showpost.php?p=20619963&postcount=25 Its been really hard for me, because I know the guy I used to be friends with is still in there somewhere, but I havent seen or talked to him in a long time. Now whenever he sees me he gives me this condescending smirk that makes me both sad and want to punch him in the face. It was really fucking insane for a while though, I witnessed him hallucinate a couple times, and he told me about all this other shit like demons attacking him in his dreams, having out of body experiences, hallucinating that he was literally "drinking from the cup of wisdom", he felt like a cup was pressed up to his lips and liquid was running down his throat, and I saw him space the fuck out one time, and he was just staring up at the ceiling and his lips were moving a little, like he was talking or drinking, and then it looked like he was swallowing, like his throat was moving. Then he laughed a little and starting writing some shit down. I have so much more shit I could write about him and all the weird occurrences but I just dont feel like going down that road in my memory, and the typing is a bitch.
