Following the actress's death, the company is expected to received one of the largest personal accident payouts in history. The policy, which was held with Lloyds of London, would have been created to protect Disney from any losses if Fisher was unable to complete her agreed Star Wars filming, including 2015's The Force Awakens, and two additional movies. While the actress had finished filming for Episode VIII, released next December, her character General Leia Organa (she'll "always be royalty" to millions of fans) was expected to feature in Episode IX, which has not yet begun filming.
hope Disney does something with that money that involves respecting her memory. at least a part of it.
how was her death a personal accident, she died from a heart attack, not from an accident usually PAI policies dont cover sickness or disease like that i thought
how was her death a personal accident, she died from a heart attack, not from an accident usually PAI policies dont cover sickness or disease like that i thought
didn't she do shitloads of coke?
didn't she do shitloads of coke?
that would be counted as a preexisting condition i think
didn't she do shitloads of coke?
She did shitloads of everything, including a cast member. Pretty frank about all of it.
Carrie Fisher is like those wrestlers who do a fuckton of stims in their 20's then just drop past middle age. The damage is done to your heart and eventually one day it gives out. Your body just ain't ticking over anymore. Ironically it's the fuckers who keep going that survive. You can take stims for your entire life and live for fucking ever but in the most horrible, torturous way possible. Look at Ozzy and Keith Richards.
My brother legit thinks that Soda had more to do with her death than the drug history. I have no idea if that's even true or why he thinks that.

The 50 million or at least part of it should go into a charity of the family's choosing. Some of it can also go to CGI research and development. Rogue One was proof that were so close to life like CGI

This is an insurance payout not a charity fund. CGI'ing Carrie Fisher to play whatever her major role in IX is is going to cost a fortune. And how would they spend it anyway? A huge statue of her?

This is an insurance payout to cover the losses from the death of an actor. They would have payed a lot of money for their insurance.

He was in several scenes and frequently patronized Director Krennic.
They'd better use that money wisely. Hopefully they would give at least part of it to her grieving family.
They CGI'd Governor / Grand Moff Tarkin in Rogue One, and he didn't exactly have a small part either. There was something obviously... wrong about Leia though.

That's Disney for you, "a celebrity we were using died, give us money" "we're not sad that a beloved actor died, just give us money"
Aren't insurance policys like this pretty common?
That's Disney for you, "a celebrity we were using died, give us money" "we're not sad that a beloved actor died, just give us money"
Because insuring big-name actors is something nobody ever does, right?
That's Disney for you, "a celebrity we were using died, give us money" "we're not sad that a beloved actor died, just give us money"
I'm sorry when did Disney say they weren't sad, I must have missed that fringe article
That's Disney for you, "a celebrity we were using died, give us money" "we're not sad that a beloved actor died, just give us money"
People and companies take out insurance policies on individuals all the time, dude.

Rogue One was proof that were so close to life like CGI
rogue one was unavoidable. i think with two years to fix it up they'll find a way to write her out, possibly with some death-star level of destruction
That's Disney for you, "a celebrity we were using died, give us money" "we're not sad that a beloved actor died, just give us money"
if you have life insurance you should probably go cancel it now then
I'm not mad at the idea of insurance like this. I just hope someone's death doesn't line the pocket of some suit.
I'm not mad at the idea of insurance like this. I just hope someone's death doesn't line the pocket of some suit.
there was a thing with a lot of retail stores where they would take out life insurance on workers without their knowledge or consent and then skimp on safety measures, getting payouts when something happened. made illegal recently i think but it was a thing for 20 some years

Not a lot of money when you think about it. That's like chump change to Disney.
