Honestly I don't know if The Mary Sue is some super "progressive" news outlet giving these people a platform because they agree, out of spite or because it gets a lot of clicks, but it's reprehensible to say the least.

Boy, can you imagine someone giving so much attention to a videogame character that they delude themselves into thinking their gender isn't just male or female and is in fact something else entirely? I mean, why even bother to all that trouble, with the shitload of proof against it?

I like how many people on that page are saying "authorial intent doesn't matter!" That doesn't mean that a small subset of fans' headcannon is the highest authority. It means that [I]what's presented in the work[/I] is the highest authority. It means that Fahrenheit 451 presents itself as a criticism of censorship rather than television, like the author intended. It means that Rei in the Evangelion TV series comes off as pitiful and "moe" rather than creepy, like the author intended. It does not mean that Voldemort is actually a hero for trans rights and all of the wizards and muggles against him are actually racist transphobic bigots because a few people think that would represent trans people better. Because nothing in the work hints at that. Same with Samus. Nothing in the Metroid series hints at her being trans. There's one artist whose sentence was taken the wrong way, and Wu jumps on that as proof, even though a developer of the series said that Samus being trans was impossible. "There's nothing saying she isn't trans!" Well, if something isn't stated or indirectly hinted at, you have to assume it's the average. Sure, you can have your own beliefs, but don't expect them to be respected by anyone if your only proof is "cause I say so".

I don't understand why it's even important I'm a trans individual myself, I don't give a damn if a character's trans, cis or a sodding log In fact in a way I wanna argue against portraying trans chars, unless it's integral to the story itself. May seem like a pointless bit to add but, I'd rather be portrayed as female rather than trans. So to reiterate, unless it's actually related to the story, I see no point to portray a character as trans. But really, who gives a shit lol
