YES. Despite all the cries over "pandering," I've seen firsthand what having a black Spider-Man who goes to a charter school means to kids. Plus, it's also a fantastic comic.

Ultimate Peter Parker/Spiderman was cool, and actually hilarious. It sucks that he dies years ago and Miles was VERY quick to replace him in the next issue. I didn't like him at first because Ultimate Parker was, well, ultimate, but Miles is good on his own. [sp]Too bad now Ultimate Parker is alive somehow and now wants to be Spiderman again, leading to EVEN MORE CONFUSION.[/sp]

But why though?
We've had about the same amount of films with Tony Stark as Iron Man, Steve Rogers as Cap, Logan was Wolverine, etc. Theres nothing inherently wrong or tiring with the character, in my opinion. I'll make a guess and bet it probably comes down to the Webb films retreading the same grounds the Raimi films did a great job doing.
In any event, the new one is doing something different compared to the last two, if Feige is to be believed, which is to say staying in High School for as long as possible, when the other two just kinda glossed right over it.

Marvel is very lacking for me lately. Miles Morales is kind of refreshing because at least I know I don't have to sit through watching Uncle Ben die again I guess.

If its any consolation, its been confirmed like a dozen times that the MCU Spider-Man wont be doing that.
Especially since he's already active by the time of Civil War. :v:
Personally, i do like that they're using a different spider-man for a different film medium, helps separate the two, but i'd honestly prefer it was Miguel O'Hara Spider-Man 2099. Nobody does cool ass Cyberpunk these days.

Miles Morales origin is actually just Peters origin btw.
Bit by the spider in high school, gets powers, doesnt use them, tragedy strikes, ends up misusing them, uncle dies.
Only difference is his uncle was a villain guy.
He also has a retardedly OP power called the "Venom Strike" thats literally an instant win button and just completely destroys any tension in any fight he'd ever be in because it fucks up everyone. Even demons.

Its a really cool idea for an alternate universe take but keep the guy who designed her outfit the hell away from the project, good god he's a weirdo.

I don't get the appeal of changing out secret identities. Derivative characters like Nightwing are better IMO, and one of peters clones had one too- scarlet spider
im all for an alternate Spider-Man but Miles is such a fucking shit, bland character. And Venom Blast is too OP a power.
