Markus "Notch" Persson, creator of the legendarily successful Minecraft, has shelved his spaceship management/space exploration/space-y stuff game 0x10c, but a group of dedicated fans wants to bring it back... kind of. 0x10c was put on ice back in April due to a "creative block," but Persson told viewers of a Team Fortress 2 livestream this week that it would never be coming off said metaphorical ice, as he had no future aspirations for it.
didnt really look terribly exciting anyway
No huge loss, it never really got very far anyway.
notch will never make another video game again
its understandable, with the kind of pressure and expectations he and his fans have many of his new games / ideas will never see the light
what a surprise!!!!!
Better go on a vacation to get some new ideas and refresh.
just play starmade
good i hope he never makes another game, minecraft was the poorest excuse for a finished product ive ever seen and i dont want his shitty work ethic to spawn another terrible game
Probably ran into problems with the game code or creative ideas or something
I'll live.

minecraft's "release" was the biggest joke
Surprised? No. Disappointed? A little bit. It had potential.

Yeah how dare he make a product that countless people had fun with, and still have fun with that isn't perfect.
I guess we'll still have starmade though.

He literally released it while it was still in beta because he didn't want to work and finish features that he promised. It's a huge mess on launch and even then, the only new content he added was ripped from mods.
Notch isn't an ideas guy, he's a replication person. Nothing in mine craft is original but a lot of pieces taken from here and there go well together.
I'm not sure why he would even bother with something else. Minecraft is a cash cow for him, just focus on improving and supporting it.

its a broken unfinished sandbox environment that can barely even be called a game. nearly all of the promised features weren't put into the game, it's all programmer art because the artist left before any art could be put in (he gave two entirely different reasons for this, which suggests neither are probably accurate), i could go on for days.
just because people have fun with a piece of shit doesn't mean its not a piece of shit, it just means they don't recognize good game design and disregard that they got a quarter finished game.

he should really just release under a pseudonym to escape that
Notch made this in a week instead:

And honestly it's the first game by notch that I had interest playing.
Remember when you guys used to love Notch and Minecraft :v: ?

this is a wildly arrogant and stupid statement.

he's going to be verbally beat up via text with the word "Lazy"

I still remember when everyone loved advice puppy spinoffs

Well, if he indeed promised features that weren't in the actual release, then I agree, that's a very shitty thing to do.
However, I have to disagree with the statement that the game design behind it is bad. I mean, the whole goal for a game is for it to be fun. Many, many people have fun with Minecraft. If the definition for 'good game design' is not for it to be fun, then what is the definition for you?

both got popular. Can't be ~internet hipsters~ if you like something popular
this is a wildly arrogant and stupid statement.
i actually understand game design because i dedicate myself to studying it, and critiquing everything i see and play from an objective perspective. im fully qualified to make that statement, but call that arrogant if you want (ur wrong tho)!! i also followed and played minecraft from back when it started in 09, seeing a lot of potential in the ideas that he said he would put in. none of the things he promised ever made it into minecraft, and the game shipped being largely the same game that it had been for a long time. updates came slowly and nothing substantial was ever added after it really got popular. he didn't know how to handle his own game because he is lazy and a bad game designer.
