Mr. Trump offered Mr. Scaramucci the job at 10 a.m. The president requested that Mr. Spicer stay on, but Mr. Spicer told Mr. Trump that he believed the appointment was a major mistake, according to person with direct knowledge of the exchange.
He was the most popular and successful Press Secretary in the history of the United States, period.
Wait, didn't this happen before? Is this the second press secretary to resign?
:frown: god speed spiceboi
Wait, didn't this happen before? Is this the second press secretary to resign?
That was the comms director Michael Dubke. Spicer seems to have been almost entirely replaced by Sarah Sanders in recent weeks though, and his job security has been a source of speculation for months

Ill never forget you, holocaust centers man
So, there's a second press secretary down the drain. Trump turns on his administration when he feels scared and insecure, and his people are abandoning ship. A move to the Trump administration is career suicide. As for Trump's current roster, who's going to be next to jump off the derailing Trump train? Sessions? Now, go testify against Trump before the Senate Intel Committee.
Now, go testify against Trump before the Senate Intel Committee.
can you imagine it if spicer was the one to bring down the administration what a twist
can you imagine it if spicer was the one to bring down the administration what a twist
Imagine the amount of gum he'd chew during that.
So, Scaramucci's only qualification for his new job it that he goes on TV and religiously defends every single thing that Trump does, and calls every single piece of unflattering reporting "fake news." I'd be outraged about this, but it has been the norm for Trump's entire administration. Almost nobody within his team is qualified for the positions that they hold. Trump doesn't give a shit about qualifications or experience, only about unquestioning loyalty and cultish devotion. Spicer has always known this, so clearly he is concerned about more than yet one more bad appointment.
Guessing that Huckabee woman will be the new one since she's been giving the press statements for the past 3 weeks or so anyway.
Guessing that Huckabee woman will be the new one since she's been giving the press statements for the past 3 weeks or so anyway.
Anyone want to take bets on how long it will be before she resigns too? The only press secretary who Trump isn't going to turn on when things start getting ugly for him is... Well, I was going to say himself, but with how often he passionately contradicts things that, only moments before, he passionately argued, Trump would end up being the first president in history to fire himself for poor performance.
Worth noting that since the end of June, the White House has taken the unprecedented cunt step of banning the media from filming the press briefings, and has only allowed delayed audio recordings to be broadcast after the briefings end. I believe they've also banned recording altogether on some occasions, meaning reporters have no proof of what was said. Authoritarian as fuck http://thehill.com/homenews/media/342821-white-house-reporter-live-streams-audio-only-press-briefing
I've never seen a rotating door government administration before. Doesn't seem too effective.

But the president believed Mr. Scaramucci, a ferocious defender of Mr. Trump’s on cable television, was best equipped to play the same role in-house, and he offered him a role with far-reaching powers independent of Mr. Priebus’s. When Mr. Spicer flatly rejected the president’s offer of a position subordinate to Mr. Scaramucci, according to two administration officials familiar with the exchange.
(NYTIMES) Spicer would have basically been forced to work as Scaramucci's subordinate. It wasn't just him getting uppity about working with somebody he doesn't like, he would be literally forced to work under him.

This decision was made because Trump was constantly contradicting the statements being put out by his press secretary. Trump cannot maintain a train of thought for long enough to let it reach its destination, and thus the message he would tell his press secretary to put out to the people would change completely by the time it was delivered. His press briefings were only further incriminating himself, and humiliating his administration.
A shame, but not terribly out of line. Spicer led a difficult and thankless job and it obviously took a great toll on him personally, no thanks to the constant snubbing from the President of course. My biggest concern however is that there isn't anyone who could do that job quite as well as him. We'll have to wait and see how much this affects the administration going forward.

That is what I figured, I just didn't know the specifics. Trump is the kind of person who always has to have somebody to blame. No matter what the problem, if things aren't going well for Donny, he points the finger everywhere but himself. He's a petulant little brat, and there will come a point when his people are sick of putting up with it. Bannon's out, Spicer's out, Manafort's out, Flynn's out, Sessions could potentially be on the way out, and how many others? Trump is hemorrhaging "yes men," because he is incapable of just taking his lumps and presenting a unified front.

I'll miss him, but it's probably for the best. Being the court jester is a thankless job.

One of the more memorable characters from this administration. Have to wonder how the next speaker will perform by comparison, given the obvious challenge presented.
Spicy is sticking it out through August. Poor spicy...can't leave an abusive relationship.
Spicey decided that his job is taking him too far away from his real life-long passion, fighting the bloated fatcat corporation that is dippin' dots
as much of a joke as it is with DJT it's still pretty creepy watching the white house become more its own government within a government each growing day, dispensing political favors and only admitting people on the basis of unequivocal personal loyalty. if donald trump wasn't such a marginal figure, if he were someone of real power before he assumed the presidency, it'd be straight up terrifying
spicey OUT! i feel bad for him in a way, he was a well respected journalist up until january 21st when he walked into the wh press room and started spitting out crazy, now he's essentially taken his career and torched it to satisfy trump [editline]21st July 2017[/editline]
One of the more memorable characters from this administration.
can you imagine it if spicer was the one to bring down the administration what a twist
He would have intimate knowledge of pretty much everything Trump has said or done...

He was with the RNC before Trump
