Margot Woelk lived in fear of vegetables for a long time.
As one of the 15 women charged with tasting Adolf Hitler's food during World War II, the now-95-year-old faced the possibility that any of the delicious vegetarian meals she ate could have been her last. (There's some fun trivia for you: Hitler was a vegetarian.)
Ashamed, she kept the secret of her wartime role for decades, including from her husband, who passed away 23 years ago. However, just a few months after her 95th birthday, Woelk has decided to share her memories of Hitler's secret Wolf's Lair with the world.
"The food was delicious, only the best vegetables, asparagus, bell peppers, everything you can imagine. And always with a side of rice or pasta," Woelk told the Associated Press in an exclusive interview.
"But this constant fear - we knew of all those poisoning rumours and could never enjoy the food. Every day we feared it was going to be our last meal."
The secret ingredients were the cries of the helpless.
Freshens it up when there's less love to go around and you can concentrate it more.
im still surprised that hitler was a vegetarian, wouldn't harm an animal but was able to harm humans

Killing to eat and Killing on principle are two totally different things.
I thought the vegetarian thing was a dumb rumor, but I guess my hearing of him liking sausages like any German was just as ignorant.
He was a partial vegetarian because he suffered from intense stomach problems, not any moral hate of it. He did eat meat at times.

Also squeamish at the sight of blood.
wow, hitler hated the sight of blood? what the shit

When an animal dies and it appears on the news, everyone goes baaaw.
When a person dies and it appears on the news, it's just another death.
Generally speaking.

He also didn't allow people to smoke, or make any sex jokes in his presence.

Well, for a guy that spent years in the trenches and saw men die, you either grow disillusioned by the sight of death or blood or you become horrified of it.
wow, hitler hated the sight of blood? what the shit
I always wonder why people are so surprised by these sorts of facts. It's not like Hitler PERSONALLY oversaw millions of deaths while twiddling his mustache and laughing maniacally. He was a bungling lower-middle-class Bavarian artillery officer who was personally a sociopath, but was hardly homicidal. If he went around violently killing people he never would've become chancellor/fuhrer. Evil comes in unsuspecting packages at times.

His years in the trenches also showed him the horrors of mustard gas, so he refused to use it during the war.
Well, in fiction I'd say the best way to make a villain actually seem like a person and therefore seem even more menacing and scary, is to have them actually eat stuff casually like anyone would. Or in this (non-fictional) case, he's actually a good cook.

He also was basically on meth for the last year or so of his life.

how can a sociopath be squeamish at the sight of blood?
hitler just believed what he was doing was right and for the good of the people,
beliefs, rationalization can do insane things to people.

The reason truly evil people are so scary and horrifying is that they think they are doing the right thing.

I eat meat on principle. I can't simply get a steak that I can eat; I have to get the largest steak at the restaurant and eat it even if it hurts me
Amphetamine, not methampetamine. Whole lot of difference lol
he was given methamphetamine by Theodor Morell as well.

Heinrich Himmler was squeamish. That's one of the reasons that the Nazis moved from going to the jews and shooting them on the spot to bringing them in to death camps, because Himmler requested that a more humane method be developed after he fainted at a mass shooting.
a more humane method
Nazi's giving a shit about being humane? That's a laugh.

Actually, I'm pretty sure they moved to gassing because he realized that getting the soldiers to shoot Jews all the time would upset them

Humane.
Edit:
For the soldiers, anyways.
wiki says that the nazi army did in fact use mustard gas when fighting the soviet union

himmler was 10x worse than hitler
He also didn't allow people to smoke, or make any sex jokes in his presence.
he was also a lazy fucker until the last few years of the war, waking up at 1pm and going for long strolls and going to the theater.
he also banned shotguns from the Wehrmacht for being inhumane.

that's also why the Gas Van was abandoned IIRC. it's kind of hard to stay calm while a bunch of people slowly choking on exhaust fumes are making a shit ton of screams and noise behind you for 20-40 minutes
I guess jews weren't the only thing Hitler was cooking.
