Of course, Damon Albarn has said a lot of things that don’t always come to fruition. Fortunately this time, the Gorillaz mastermind is holding true to his word, as collaborator Jamie Hewlett has confirmed to DIY that sessions are now underway.
Hewlett has some new artwork on his Instagram too!
Yeeeessssssssssss
Awesome!
Hopefully it won't be mediocre crap like a lot of new albums from old school artists are.
Hopefully it won't be mediocre crap like a lot of new albums from old school artists are.
plastic beach was released 5 years ago and it was great
Read that as Godzilla album, I was very very confused.
Looking forward to it
plastic beach was released 5 years ago and it was great
The Fall came out half a year afterwards and had a couple of great tracks, although it was mostly experimental.
Wasn't really a fan of Plastic Beach, but Demon Days is still one of my favorite albums ever made, at least production wise if not musically. Looking forward in seeing what this new one is going to be like.
plastic beach is on a completely different level for me
I'm excited to see how Noodle, 2D, Murdoc and Russel have grown over the years.
plastic beach was released 5 years ago and it was great
wow time goes by fast; on melancholy hill is so good
I look forward to it! Not as much as my brother though. He won't stop reminding me about the new album being underway. He's as excited as a five year old on Christmas Day :v:
I actually find The Fall to be an overall better listen than Plastic Beach, even if it doesn't have as many "big" tracks. Plastic Beach drags for me in a few spots. Demon Days and Gorillaz are my favorites though.
I bet the bands going to break up again once they finish
I hope the new album doesn't have many collaborations with other musicians. Plastic Beach was good but it had too many other artists in it.

But I wouldn't mind it if they cut down on guest artists, yeah.
iirc this is really good since Plastic Beach was rushed because ~music contracts~ where as now it's 5 years later, their thing is up, and the industry of music independent of big labels is much different then before, so they can go back to making a gorillaz album completely their way, something not truly felt since Demon Days.
This makes me extremely excited!
Fucking yes. This is the best day ever.
Demon Days may be a better overall album than Plastic Beach (I always found that the tail end of PB was somewhat dull) but this is still the best Gorillaz song
shame they abandoned the unfinished story parts with animations, i was really hyped for it gorillaz lore is mindbogglingly deep
Kinda a shame there's no other spacemonkeyz albums. Loved Laika come home.
I thought they were pretty fed up with continuing the Gorillaz?
They worked out whatever differences they had, this new album's apparently had songs being written for it since April last year.
