I've only seen like 3 people do this on a 3 hour bus ride, so thank your bus driver if you take the bus.

These guys spent half their day driving you around for 2.25$ (in america, not sure about Europe) so the least you could do is thank him when you get out. He/she even has to handle road rage, smells, and a shit ton other stuff.

Just say THANK YOU, it's not that hard. Look, I'll help you out.

It doesn't even have to be straight to his face, just say it as you leave.

Not only does it make the bus driver feel good but it makes you look like less of an ass.

The MTA is pretty fucky as it is and they're like Hitler when it comes to schedules and shit.

And? That's no excuse, it's still just a courteous thing to do. Besides, given driving a bus isn't the most rewarding of jobs, it's still just a friendly gesture that'll brighten there day, even if it's just a little bit.

i dont say thank you for the same reason i dont tip, i'm paying for a service i don't need to act like they're doing me some favour they wouldnt care if i ordered pizza/got on their bus or not so why should i care that they completed the job they're paid to do

I always do this. I don't use public transport often, but when I do, I always say thank you. I say thanks whenever I get off any bus. Just because it's their job, doesn't mean their work can't be appreciated. I like it when people thank me when I'm working, I don't see why someone else wouldn't like it when they're working.
