Thailand's powerful army chief refused on Friday to rule out military intervention to defuse an escalating political crisis, the latest blow for a government determined a February election will go ahead despite deadly clashes with protesters.
General Prayuth Chan-ocha said "the door was neither open nor closed" when asked whether a coup would happen, a marked shift from the strong denials the armed forces routinely make.
"Anything can happen," Prayuth told a news conference in Bangkok. "It depends on the situation ... we are trying to do the right thing, in a peaceful way and we urge negotiations."
Would the Thai king be ousted in the event of a coup? It's a constitutional monarchy, so he doesn't really have power, but still, transitioning governments.
Also holy fuck, the guy's like 86 and he looks like this.

To think he has 30 Billion and can have anybody in the country arrested.
The king in Thailand is pretty much loved by everybody. A very easy way to end up in hospital in Thailand is to talk shit about their king. In that case, the police will not help you. You do not want twenty or so Thai guys on your ass, especially considering that a lot of them go through Mai Thai training when younger. Seriously, they love their king.
