Yes it's still a viable possibility.

Apparently the politicians are still complaining like so many tiny children about this nonsense and refuse to make any compromises for the good of the whole nation.
Let the government shutdown. Its not like they were doing anything useful in the first place
Let the government shutdown. Its not like they were doing anything useful in the first place
It affects a lot more than the government. My father, for example, works for a company called Arcaidis. The EPA uses them as contractors and if the government shuts down, they get laid off temporarily.

fda
Colbert is enjoying it.
I never even knew that we could have a shut down. You know your country's politicians are shit when this happens.

That was actually the reason why Newt forced a shutdown in 1995.
Isn't that where all the cool kids sit anyways?
It's happened before and nothing much happened because of it, it'll be fine.
It also happened in the West Wing which was quite amusing.
Well, at least if we shut down, we'll save some cash. :sigh:
Fucking cry baby politicians. There needs to be a riot, with a message like "YOU FUCKING WORK FOR THE PEOPLE YOU POMPUS ASSHOLES SO FUCKING WORK AND STOP WHINIG ABOUT IDEOLOGY FUCKERS"

Yeah man it's completely fine that I'm not going to get paid yet still expected to go to work. What about my bills? I have a truck, a phone, internet, car insurance. What about food? What about gas? What about the thousands of people like me who are in the military and are about to get fucked. What about people deployed who have houses and families back home they need to support? This is a huge mess. What about late fees, credit scores getting fucked? The amount of shit that can go wrong simply by not paying the military is humongous.
And we're the lucky ones! We're bound by contract and they won't just let us go. What about the civilian DoD contractors that are also getting fucked, they can be laid off, temporarily I'm sure, but at least I'm earning back pay. As far as I know they won't.
So please don't say nothing will happen.
I hope it shuts down, and we don't pass this tea party draft or shit like that.
4.3 in cuts over the next 10 years from middle-class to lower income families, and then 4.2 billion in tax breaks for the rich over the next 10 years?
This is fucking insanity.
My aunt and grandmother live together and have 5 children, all of them have severe autism and cost tons in terms of medical bills. Both of them are unemployed and disabled, and they're pretty much counting on disability to get them through paying bills and the like.
They're scared shitless because social security probably won't be giving out checks this month. :ohdear:
politicians..

Hahaha
I'm pretty sure they know who they work for. Just because you can't accept that the world is run by these types of people (and has been since the beginning of time) doesn't give you the right to break things.

I loved that episode.

The rich keep getting richer. The poor keep getting poorer.

Whats really troubling about it is that the government is willing to slash services for disabled citizens, and keep their massive defense budget.
Well, at least if we shut down, we'll save some cash. :sigh:
We waste more money going into and out of a shutdown than just avoiding it all together.
Fucking bitchy politicians who can't look past their stupid pointless fucking political alignment to keep this country running.
Christ, why the hell is family planning such a thorny issue in the US.
ITT: People complain about how it's the Republican's fault.
The way I see it, both parties claim America is #1, but because they refuse to cooperate on anything because of some ridiculus ideas on ideology, they run the country to the ground before someone realizes it. I don't think any foregn power could fuck up America to the extent these two parties have done.
it happened in 1995 and we are still here.

Do you WANT to be nuked?
Remember how people were saying the Wisconsin Democrats needed to go back and do their job? We can now say the Washington Republicans need to get back to work. :v:
How the tables have turned.

I hope you're joking.

In a funny twist, when the government shuts down, the welfare checks keep going out, but the military doesn't get paid.

Because it should be the family doing the planning?

Military still gets paid, turn off fox news. Tax returns however get delayed.
It's too bad Obama had to postpone his family vacation.
Freagin' politicians. Can't agree on a damn budget.
